| Wilco – Either Way Lyrics

Pitchfork: The lyrics to Sky Blue Sky-- especially in the first and last tracks-- kind of talk about relationships that have gone on maybe too long.
Jeff Tweedy: No, I think the songs are more about relationships that are endless. I wouldn't deny you your interpretation. I think both those songs are just kind of trying to express some acceptance of the idea that we don't really know what's going to happen and I'm going to try to do my part, my thing, as honestly and as with as much spirit as I can even in the face of that. The whole record to me is really, lyrically, geared towards being more accepting of ambiguity. |

| Belle & Sebastian – Funny Little Frog Lyrics

"i think you are all stupid." no, mississippi gary, you're "stupid." cause i just saw b&s this past wednes night at sxsw in austin. this song - based off not some wild random notion but actual word of mouth from the band - is about an imaginary female (a muse of sorts as stevenisgood suggests). during the song, a lucky female was invited onstage to be the "funny little frog." |

| Cake – When You Sleep Lyrics
|
well first off this is one of my personal favorites from cake. fingers are a motif representing your inner self. you may not know who you are but cake says to reference your fingers while you sleep. who are you really? "do they tremble on the edge of the bed
or do you fold them neatly by your head
do they clench like claws against your own skin
when you're living your day all over again"? what's your real personality... not your words, not even your actions. just something much more subtle like your fingers while asleep. whenever someone wakes up he/she's in a most natural position. you can control the position you fall asleep but cannot control your posture when you wake up. so you're forced to witness your real self. i think the end part is the most revealing: "when you sleep
do they tremble on the edge of the bed
or do you fold them neatly by your head"? are you scared to go to sleep or are you confident that you know who you really are. in other words do you know what your fingers are doing while your asleep?? |

| Stars – One More Night Lyrics

this song is definitely about breakup ("The bed is unmade, like everything is") sex ("the end should be a good one")...NOT RAPE! What's unique about this approach is you hear both the girl's and guy's take on "One More Night"... what confuses me about this song is the perspective: is it first person or third?? they both refer to themselves and to "him" and "she"?? |

| Jack Johnson – Symbol In My Driveway Lyrics

well pinkpanther21 here's an explanation from the man himself, "The song 'Symbol in My Driveway' started out driving along, I forget what town it was in, but I was seein' that there was real nice cars in the driveways and then you get a few blocks down and then you got kinda like the Honda Civics and the so-so cars. And then you got a little further and then you got broken down, barely runnin' type of cars. It was just, they were all kinda a symbol of who was in these houses, you know. Some people had two Beamers in their driveway and was kinda showin' them off. So that's how the song started out . . ." - iTunes originals, go download that album off the itunes music store. |
