The one solid foundation a man ever has in his life. To me, it seems like this song was meant as the end of a friendship or relationship of some sort. "I was there, when no one was. I had your back, out of love." Does anyone see a connection? |

I LOVE IT!!! This song is clearly about living a fucked-up, drugged-out life of crime. I know EXACTLY what that's like, except for the heroin. I've never fucked with that shit, just ecstacy and all those fun psychadelics. He speaks of "broken laws and stolen cars,' 'dying to find the truth," changing his life and what he does, judging this book (himself) by its fucked-up cover, searching for redemption, and sleepless nights. This is definitely about living a hardcore life and trying to change for the better.
The first four verses make me happy: "Six in the morning, what could it be? When you look in the mirror what do you see? An overgrown kid who lost his soul. I don't know why, but I feel so old" I get that feeling everyday, even though I am only 19 years old at the moment. |

Obviously a song about giving change to hobos. I respect that. I can't say I always give people change on the street, there are still junkies out there. I just talk to them occasionally and get to know them... I've met some very friendly homeless people who aren't even homeless by choice, but because of injuries and job loss. Kids are kicked out of their parents' homes for petty reasons. Sometimes, fortunes are lost or sometimes even stolen due to something that went wrong. My own mother used to have a bunch of squeegie kids (people who wash car windows on street corners with those window washers you see at gas stations), and a few really good friends of mine trash talk them when they don't even know them!!! These guys are like brothers to me.. and almost all of them have gotten off the streets! So people, when someone asks you for change on the street, don't just walk past them without even glancing at them. Inspect them, do they look like bad people? Do they look strung out? Do they look like they're gonna spend all that change you give them on crack? If not, then throw them that extra $1 in your pocket. Help them out. Hobos with children are a bonus, hook them up LARGE. Your generosity will pay off one day... |

Oh yeah, these guys are the next best thing since Rancid, but I wouldn't say they are better. The only thing I've noticed they are better at is changing the pace throughout the songs, they never keep the same beat for too long, except in this song. Rancid repeats a lot of the same melodies throughout their songs, but they are still the kings of punk-rock in my eyes. After all, Tim DOES own the record company who produces their own albums AS WELL AS Time Again's, AND Time Again's biggest influences were Rancid, Operation Ivy, and the Clash. They are actually more like a younger generation Rancid, Daniel Dart almost even sounds like Tim... |

You're forgetting the message in the song, StillNotDead. He's obviously trying to help someone who is presumably suicidal, hence the second verse. Also, he speaks of something bad that happened, given in the verse, "Think about the fall and what you did wrong, before you can move along." To me it just sounds like he's helping a friend see how enjoyable life can really be if you just loosen up and stop stressing about shit. I still don't understand where the song AND album name comes from, though. It seems to me like he's just advertising his lifestyle to whomever he is trying to send this message to.

This is the greatest song on this CD I'd say. As for the meaning, I'm not sure. I think it's about a dealer who really wants to get out of that kind of lifestyle and become a businessman or something. This is proven in many verses of the song, like when Tim says,
"You were dealing
I was reeling from the feeling and the madness was concealing like a siren song
People that I trusted would surely have me busted if they ever had a clue of what was really going on..."
That's a dead giveaway right there. I could be wrong, but I'm only stating my opinion of what I think it's about, so don't post a message saying something like, "you're a dumbass," or, "you're a fucking retard!" Shit, John Samson writes so much stuff that we can all relate to, he is really good, and knows what he's doing, he's not just some guy who can make up some bullshit lyric and try to get rich of of it. I saw these guys live at the Winnipeg Folkfest, and they were fucking awesome! There were people dancing in the mud, and I kind of joined in, but not hardcore, I got a little muddy.
