| Maybe one of my favorite songs on this album, which is an amazing album. Not 100% sure what this song is really about, but to me, it's the end of a relationship which has only been going through the motions for the past while. The guy had 'checked out' for the relationship long ago and now just wants to enjoy himself and doesn't really care that it's over and done with. Good chance I'm far off on the meaning but just kinda how I see it. Maybe he is actually hurting a lot and the only way he can deal with it is to drink away the pain. The more I listen, the more I pick up on little things. All in all, amazing song, great job with this one! | |

Wintersleep is quite an amazing band and just like you said musicholic54, no one knows them. I was never really all that sure what this song meant until I saw the video, which made me think the "jaws of life" are the certain things that show our "status" in life. In the video, he realizes that these things don't really make you a person and decides to get rid of them, such as his car, when he takes off his tie I take that as symbolizing leaving his job, and when he takes off his jacket and shoes, he is getting rid of "fashion". Just my take on it, probably completely off |
