| Everything but the Girl – Get Me Lyrics | 10 years ago |

My favorite song from everything but the girl. That line: I'm a spring inside a clock, you can wear me on your wrist and I'll tell you things ten thousand times, Great lyric |

This song kills me. It's song writing at it's finest. I also think this song is about the husband's view of his wife giving birth and having a tough go of it. The one thing I want to point out is the double meaning: I know you have a little life in you yet. His wife both has a little life in her meaning she can continue, and also literally a little life. brilliant |

| Tom Waits – Kentucky Avenue Lyrics | 19 years ago |

such a great song. This is an example of Tom Waits brilliance. It conveys the normal childhood fun and hijinkx and the kids attempts to come to grips with the world around them. But, as the song progresses you realize his friend is in disabled: "Ill take the spokes from your wheelchair and a magpies wings and tie em to your shoulders and your feet i'll steal a hacksaw from my dad and cut the braces off your legs and we'll bury them in the night in the cornfield" He wants to help his friend escape at all costs. Such a powerfully wonderful song. Thanks Tom! |

| The Who – You Better You Bet Lyrics | 19 years ago |

It looks like the lyrics are slightly wrong here. The line actually says "To the sound of old T-Rex, and who's next". Who's next, being The Who's 1971 album. Which is pretty great reference that they are listening to their own album. Great song. |

| Yo La Tengo – Last Days of Disco Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Wow, No one has had much to say on this song. This is by far one of my favorite Yo La Tengo songs. It's exploring the emotions of a guy who is pretty sidelined in life. We all know the guy. He's geeky and lonely and wants to have an emotional connection. But has no idea how. He also feels that somehow he deserves to be sidlined. That since he is so bad at social interactions that he needs to be content with it. He first see's a girl he knows at a party. And she wants him to dance. He's very uncomfortable and feels out of place. He dances with her and conveys how uncomfortable he is and she doesn't care. So, he is in essence remembering one time where he felt happy, and that this social interaction was not forced and worked well. They did a great job of painting that picture of akwardness and the feeling of not belonging. I would love to know if he is referring to a real song. Does anyone know it? Also, if anyone knows who Andrea is "You laughed when I called Andrea true Anita Ward" |

| Broken Social Scene – Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that. It reminds me of when I was a teenager and our friend left our punk rock crowd and moved on to the more mainstream muffy crowd. We couldn't understand it because she was so great and we couldn't understand why she would want to migrate to a plastic scene. Such a great song. They did a wonderful job conveying that angst and desperation. I can't help but listen to this song 40 times in a row. |
