Maybe I’ve warped this too much into my own personal issues; but, to me, the "death" and "dead" part seems to be more of a metaphor. I think that its definitely a twisted love song. in general, I believe that [he] is singing to [his girlfriend] who ran from their relationship because she got too scared of falling in love with him. Maybe the girl had never fallen in love before she was with him, so got scared and pushed him away. Upon this, she put on a façade and completely changed herself--pretending to be stoic and emotionless, therefore, the title is “walking dead” And he--also in love-- let her go, and now regrets it. Hence him doing everything he can to try and reach her. The first verse implies this. The second verse, I think, is him trying to get her to…admit that she loves him, if you will.(“Waiting for the earth to reveal you”--once again, uses the motif of the dead). She fights the whole way and makes it very difficult and, probably, painful (I’m thinking of emotions, here). That façade she put on is very strong, and he repeats “wondering if I will ever see you again”. When he sings the chorus, its like he’s telling her what he promises (yes, I sounds twisted, but, as I stated, I think it’s a twisted love song.). And “I’ll bring you to life” is representing that he’ll bring back that emotion that she lost (taking her façade down), and that he’ll make her whole again. Well this is overly long but I hope that articulated my thoughts well enough so that they’re understood. And, if anyone cares enough, feel free to email me if I completely confused anyone. |
