to me this song is about a girl who has been looking for someone to love her in a way like no other. she needs to be loved to feel comfortable in herself. she has no self esteem so she uses love to make her feel better about herself. she gets her heart broken numerous times, and is in a relationship with the narrator of the song. shes still hurting from her previous attempts at finding someone to love her, feeling rejected and worthless, she needs the narrator of the song to build up her self steem again, even though he knows she doesnt feel as strong about him as she did about the other guys. she just wants to feel loved. "you want to be dressed in poetry but imagery doesn't fit" you want resizing but darling dear get a grip" hes telling her to pull herself together because love like that doesn't exist in the real world, and she will never find what she is looking for. |

| i think this song is in reference to a feeling pretty much everyone can relate to... when a relationship breaks down, and the ex moves on and maybe finds someone else and shuts you out completely. and you're just stuck there hurting, and they want nothing to do with you. doing anything to feel like you're "inside their life", until it gets to the point where it's an obsession, going to extreme measures to even be acknowledged, for them to even recognise that you exist. it's the pain of seeing an ex not feeling as hurt about the demise of the relationship as you are. being ignored and shut out does terrible things to a person, love becomes obsession becomes anger becomes revenge. this song encaptures this perfectly, and i don't think there are many people who will not be able to relate to it. | |

obviously this song is about suicide. when he was 17 he obviously grew up and realised that life wasn't as perfect as it is made out to be and that the world is a hard place. when he got really desperate he bought pills to kills himself, and tried to justify it in a suicide note to his family. he was embarrassed by the honesty of the withering flower because a flower doesn't need to justify or make excuses for dying - it just does it. but then spring came and it made him wait a few more days, in which time the justin guy spoke to him and convinced him not to kill himself. at this time he realises he just needs to find a reason for living - the unborn baby - to make sure it never becomes as desperate as he has, and to show it all the beauty in the world. amazing song. i don't think i have ever heard anything so beautiful in all my life. conor is a genius without a doubt. |

This song reminds me so much of the relationship i had with my ex fiancee. He was possessive to the point where he wouldn't let me go out at all, he used to get right in my face and call me a slut and a whore if i did anything which offended him. He constantly thought i was going ot cheat on him but i never gave him any reason to. I tried everything to change for him which relates to the line "I used to make the light shine for you". i know you'll never change i wont be good enough for you but no matter what i did it was never right "and now you throw it all away a shattered memory that you would stay through thick and thin with me" He promised me he'd be there for me forever but he never was. So i think the song is about this, a one-sided selfish relationship althgouh i think in the song the selfishness was on the part of the girl instead of the boy. |
