Neil Young – Loose Change Lyrics

Funny that this song (which came out in 1996 so it was obviously unrelated to everything else I'm about to say) is just about 9:11 long and has the same name as that (in)famous 9/11 documentary. |

R.E.M. – E-Bow The Letter Lyrics

Now that I know what it means, it's hilarious that such a well-loved song in their catalog was named that way. That's what's so great about R.E.M. sometimes though... |

Nirvana – Rape Me Lyrics

That said, I didn't see whether anyone noticed that "my favorite inside source" might be the hypothetical imprisoned rapist's opinion of the man who's raping him... his favorite source of sex on the "inside." |

Nirvana – Rape Me Lyrics

One of the good parts about Cobain's songwriting is that he's intentionally vague, possibly an opening to read things into his songs at will. I might be so bold as to pretend I have the authority to say this: Interpret away. |

Faith No More – Jizzlobber Lyrics

Two possibilities that, at least, haven't been spelled out here:
*the narrator was sodomized or sodomized someone and feels guilty about it
*the narrator raped someone
I always thought of "lobbing" in this context as throwing, tossing... like a projectile.
I doubt this is supposed to apply to Patton himself, who sings a lot of other songs on Angel Dust in first person as well. |

True... although this and Fame Throwa (and maybe Two States and Nothing Ever Happens) are the only songs on S&E that sound like the fall |

R.E.M. – Maps And Legends Lyrics

It sounds like someone who's absolutely engrossed in something, but totally unable to describe it in any useful way. It's a nice song but really seems to be more about the general statement of this album than any specific identity. that's probably the point though. |

The Replacements – Unsatisfied Lyrics

This song is so much better than "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." Yes, even better than DEVO's version.
The way he starts the singing with a barely discernible "Jump!" is so awesome. |

It's hard for me to tell whether Westerberg likes the fact that "the people dress the way that they please" or not, given the talk about Dick and Janie... |

Catherine Wheel – Ballad Of A Running Man Lyrics

People (well snobby reviewers mostly) give Wishville a really bad name, but a lot of them cite this song as an example... I don't get it. It's awesome. A little lyrically awkward, but pretty much all CW's songs are that way. |

The Beatles – Glass Onion Lyrics

An onion makes you cry -- but if it's made out of glass it shouldn't because it's not really an onion. |
