Oysterhead – Shadow Of A Man Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is pretty straightforward, though I find it funny that you can surmise the character's name is "Billy Graham." Isn't he that evangelical guy?

Primus – Pilcher's Squad Lyrics 20 years ago
Petary791 got it... it's really reminiscent of what the US government was trying to do in the 60's and 70's as well - subjugating communistic, atheistic, devil-worshipping music through any means necessary. For the purity of the motherland!

C2B3 – Buckethead Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeah, if you know anything about Buckethead, this song makes perfect sense. Buckethead, according to legend, was raised in a chicken coop. The whole purpose of his music career is to open Buckeheadland, a theme park... he's an amazing guitar player, and he certainly adds well to the top-notch mix that is C2B3...

A Silver Mt. Zion – God Bless Our Dead Marines Lyrics 20 years ago
I have no idea what this song means, but I love it because I have a vision of a bunch of people with acoustic instruments dancing around a campfire on peyote screaming and dancing and crying. It's beautiful.

The Dandy Warhols – Nietzsche Lyrics 20 years ago
It's either Neetchee or Neetcha. I've heard both, though I think the latter is more correct. Whatever.

In any case, yeah. It's about Christianity and wanting more. I love the line "I, even I, can play dead." I'm just as powerful as God, considering he doesn't show his face long enough to show any power...

The Dandy Warhols – Cool As Kim Deal Lyrics 20 years ago
A song about scenesters? Rather be cool than smart?

I agree with Mrs Mojo, though. Kim Deal is very cool.

Elliott Smith – Satellite Lyrics 20 years ago
This could be a stretch, but I think this is about liking someone who disapproves of drug usage and becomes a narc. The lines "cos the names you drop put ice in my veins/and for all you know you're the only one who finds it strange" seems to me to say that someone's been narcing on his dealer, because she disapproves of his drug use, and he's saying that maybe she's the only one who has a problem with it.

Elliott Smith – Needle in the Hay Lyrics 20 years ago
Anyone think "The Man" is a reference to "Waiting for the Man" by Velvet Underground? The subject is the same - waiting for a fix... and I personally think the title is a direct reference to heroin. Not even remotely veiled. I mean, he fucking did it, and he wrote about his life. I don't think there are many other intepretations than that.

Elliott Smith – St. Ides Heaven Lyrics 20 years ago
I love this song because it describes my relationship with a lot of people. Everyone is a fucking pro, and everyone thinks they know the answers, and none of their answers are worth coming down for.

On another note, St. Ides Heaven is some of the best bang for your buck if you wanna get drunk. Like a buck seventy five for forty ounces of fiiiiine malt liquor.

Pixies – Theme From NARC Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is pretty obvious. It's the theme from NARC. For those that don't know, NARC was an NES game from the height of the war on drugs. Basically, the objective is to get out of your bitchin' Corvette with mounted machine guns to kill pill poppers, potheads, crack fiends, and anyone else who dabbles in drugs.

I don't know the Pixies' history with drugs... I'd assume they smoked pot, but I'm biased on that (the whole thing with stoners thinking anyone who inspires them smoked pot too... it's true.). So, I can't tell you if it's straight-up sarcasm (the game was a joke, whatever the case.)

If I remember right, also, Nancy Reagan endorsed it and the original cartridge had her signature on it.
