blink has a few good songs but to associate it with punk in any way is insulting. they'r neither polital nor do they have a good sound or songwriting ability. the drummer is the only talented one. they write songs about fucking dogs.. if you find this shit funny you prob have the maturity of an 8 year old. |

Music genres bring with them cultures that are then duplicated by the impressionable youth so it is reasonable to say that music actually plays a huge part in our society. Youth are always searching for identity and corporations like MTV manipulate this by forcing their ideals to them.
These ideals may include drug usage, sex, gender roles etc. Music is a great outlet for this search for identity, as it seems so unique and individual. When someone is passionate about a particular kind of music they attempt to recreate the image being sold to them with it. They adopt the whole subcultures- they watch channels like MTV, read gossip magazines and dress/talk/act like their ‘idols’ etc.
These corporate utensils fuel this search for identity started by music. Simply look at the huge fascination with the ‘rap culture’- the clothes, society roles; language and behaviour are copied by our youngest generation.
This doesn’t seem to me like a very healthy upbringing- idolising these junky pimps and ditsy whores who loudly broadcast their ‘glamorous’ street lives.
At least with punk music, listeners are encouraged to ‘think for themselves’ and to be individual. They impose strongly political belief to also manipulate an image on their audience. So while musical genres may be just that, they do have a strong influence, which should be carefully monitored to create strong models for our youngest generation.
MTV recognises their influence though and yet choses to neglect it- to manipulate it in fact, which is probably what Jello was rebelling at- less then the fact that rock music was slowly degrading. And yeah that took me like 20 minutes… |

haha eminem is a FUCKHEAD anyone could SPEAK one of his songs or write one for that matter. it makes me sick to think that he can jabber on about nothing with a catchy beat in the background and its called a 'song'. he RUINED this song, aerosmith kick that shit heads ass. just shows that it takes little talent to make it in the pop charts...and to quote wierd al yankovic, eminem 'sounds like a 12 year old girl on helium' |
