This song is very emotional, and he switches his view points in the song towards the end. Here he is point out what went wrong with the relationship: "I needed somewhere to hang my head Without your noose You gave me something that I didn’t have But had no use I was too weak to give in Too strong to lose My heart is under arrest again But I break loose My head is giving me life or death But I can’t choose" At the beginning of the song he says he is a fool, but towards the end of the song he adds these interesting lines: "I’ve got another confession my friend I’m no fool I’m getting tired of starting again Somewhere new" This sounds like he was seriously involved in a relationship, and can't get on to someone new when she already has: "Are you gone and onto someone new?" Also when he says: "Were you born to resist or be abused? I swear I’ll never give in I refuse" It implies that he wants to work things out, he wont give up on this relationship. Clearly she is getting the best of him, because he wants this relationship to work out. I believe in this imaginary relationship, he broke up with the woman because of the reasons stated, but feels he made a mistake and wants to make it right. |
