i love this song. after the 18 or so minutes of silence, about 5 minutes to the end conor plays "Contrast And Compare" again, more acoustically, and seemingly more painfully, with more odd sound effects and background noises too. it's amazing to be reading or doing work listening to the song, and you forget about the odd noise of semi-silence in the background for 20 minutes, and all of the sudden, Contrast and Compare comes on! and it's kind of nice :-) |

| Bright Eyes – Jetsabel Removes the Undesireables Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I think this song is about sadness. Jetsabel and Arienette are metaphors for the things or feelings or memories the narrator holds onto in his sadness, to try and feel better. The weak optimism is represented in a beautiful girl. I believe the same goes for Annabel Lee for Poe. The girls (or girl, it seems there are two names for one person) help the poor person in his depression, by cleaning out closets, and taking his temperature (all metaphorical for trying to help him get better and return to the life he once had). He loses his hope in the end, when he knows that she will leave him, once winter comes (when his sadness is greatest), and he decides he will live no more. So there is my take in a quick summary. I believe it to be true especially because it follows the other themes of Fevers & Mirrors, which deal with sadness throughout. |

| I love Bright Eyes, but I can't stand this song. It's so obnoxious. He's done a lot better. | |
