| Dr. Octagon – Technical Difficulties Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i like the spanish that cuts in... "tienes loco o que... tienes que visitar a doctor octo... a mi no me importa, comer la torta" but i think this song is just about all the insane shit that comes out of technology, and how it's always breaking down and being used to fulfill sexual desires and whatnot. whatever it's about, it's basically the best song in the history of music. | |

| If you ask me, this is the song that is most specific in what it seems to be about. Most of their songs just deal with abstract thoughts that sound good together. | |

OK, on one level it's about the irony of being able to make a good song without saying anything really coherent. Then on another level, it's about a lobotomy. You see a lot of imagery in the video that suggests this: the encroaching dark vines, the damaged heads and blank stares, the almost godlike statue whose eyes and head are just stone, the fog, and of course the caption "Lobotomy Pop." The song lyrics tell the same story when you think about them. So it boils down to an exploration of having gone insane, submitted to a lobotomy, and just trying to see the world and "Rock it" through a cloud of brain damage. |

Firstly, it's definitely based around a possibly real experience in Kurt's life, but also meant to have the potential to be taken different ways. I think underneath the bridge refers to running away from conventional society and finding some sort of refuge from the world. The tarp has sprung a leak is talking about the way the direction of his life doesn't really provide comfort and security. Then the animals and grass can represent trying a lifestyle that's more primitive and closer to animals and nature as a means of rejecting things he can't stand in dealings with people. And why don't fish have any feeling? Looking at the theme of mutual rejection with society, that can speak to the irony of arbitrarily assuming something has no feeling so it can be exploited. Or maybe the dog eat dog nature of the world means something has to be destroyed for food, and why not fish, since they can't be befriended like animals. The sound of the song and the different possibilities give an effect that is its real meaning. |
