Red Hot Chili Peppers – Wet Sand Lyrics 19 years ago
I can't really figure out exactly what the song means - there are a lot of good ideas here. Like many other people I had to let this song grow on me. It was mostly the very end that made me give this song a second chance.

I realized how much I love this song after I saw it had a certain formula to it. It's as if the speaker is trying to reach a conclusion throughout the entire song, but always has to start from the beginning. The song seems to be broken up into 4 phases: the normal verse, the "my what a good day" part, the "I've thought about it" part, and the "wet sand" part, but the song goes like so: 1; 1, 2; 1,2,3; 1,2,3,4; 4. It's as if he starts off not really sure about what he's thinking, but slowly progresses forward, always backtracking to make sure he's going in the right direction, and hints at this near the end of the song with "my theory isn't perfect but it's close". Finally, after, the first appearance of the "wet sand" part, he sings it again, but with more emphasis and determination accented by the epic style of the instruments.

Love this song.

Hot Hot Heat – Ladies and Gentlemen Lyrics 20 years ago
This one's pretty easy. These guys hate a certain member of their group who seems to exagerrate, gossip, etc., but when he finally leaves, they miss his old stories.

Hot Hot Heat – Dirty Mouth Lyrics 20 years ago
Alright, this interpretation is a little weird, but bear with me:
Generally, I think the guy is the "other man" in an affair, and he wishes the woman would end it with her boyfriend/husband.
"Wash your dirty mouth" to me means he can almost taste the other man's kisses when he kisses her himself.
The lines from "Wake up Cinnamon..." to "... quarter to four" I believe show them having to always go to secret locations (e.g. hotels) to have their affair.
The "small town girls and boys" line could refer to him having to keep the relationship a secret from his friends as well, out of fear rumors may spread and the relationship may be discovered.
"But acting tough is rough, enough is enough - I feel like hell" is pretty self-explanatory, that he has to hide his emotions from everyone despite his anguish
"Tied up in London" could portray her husband (most likely) as wealthy, but the "two handed tug" and "pieces of a phone" could suggest fighting or abuse within the relationship she has with her husband.
"I gotta say I cannot wait" is just reiterating that he wants her to finally end it with the husband. "End this awful holiday" seems to be irony, classifying this affair as awful instead of enjoyable. He wants to be the only man in her life, not the other man.
Thank you.

Hot Hot Heat – Elevator Lyrics 20 years ago
First of all I believe this song is about different levels of commitment in a relationship, and that, obviously, is symbilized by the elevator. Overall, I think the speaker is apprehensive about going to the next level, or being brought up to the next floor, because he will hurt whoever he's with by ending the relationship and letting the elevator fall. The lines "Wake me... your name" are kinda hazy to me, but I think he's referring to what she'll experience after it falls. And the part that gives me the greatest idea of what he's talking about is the part from "In an innocent way" to "around on the ground", because he says he wishes he could stay on the ground, on the lowest level, "fooling around", just carelessly accepting the relationship with levity. But that's just my interpretation...
