Whats interesting about this song, is that a writer in a major newspaper used this song against Kathleen. He/She wrote a piece saying that (based on this song) she had been molested as a child (she wasn't) and used pictures he/she bought from a friend of Kathleens. In the picture, she was at the beach and it the article contained information which customers at the strip club at which she worked used to identify her. Fucked up, right? |

Beck was trying to imitate the rap styles prevalent when he wrote it. He was just trying to write a song that captured "Sitting on a couch with your friends eating doritos" as he put it. And when asked how he felt about "Loser" becoming a slacker anthem, he said "Damn...that sucks." It's not supposed to be for slackers, it's just supposed to be a feel good tune. |
