this song, I think, is about how he sees someone who he liked when he was younger, but can nothing about, because one of his friends likes this girl as well, and he would not do that to his friend. He basically has to keep his love for this woman silent, but every now and then it just can't be held back...been there! |

To me, this song is about a fight between Dave and his girlfriend. That he is happy, and glad that she left him, that he is "so damn lucky that you went on ahead" because he is better off with out her. However, as the song goes on, he realizes that he really needs her, and she was the one. By the end of the song, they work it out after he asks for forgivness. |

This song, as said by Dave himself, is about his sister. In case you don't know the history, Dave's sister got married and lived in South Africa, where Dave was born. However, her husband, one day, went nuts and killed her and then took his own life. Dave was stunned, and has not been able to even talk about it, until he wrote this song for her. That's what this song is about, according to Dave Matthews. |
