| Toots And The Maytals – Revolution Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I am pretty sure the lyric goes "start the way of revolution," instead of "stop." As "stop" it doesn't fit with the rest of the song - the song is clearly about treating people better, and changing the way things currently are - "do you feel the atmosphere? Almost everyone is living in fear." | |
| Bromheads Jacket – Poppy Bird Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I have been trying to work out what happens next since the album came out, and I still can't. It seems most people have just assumed that it's a happy ending, but to me the ferocious drumming and thrashing of the guitars suggests the possibility of our protagonist attacking the girl... But maybe I am just over-thinking it. |

| Arctic Monkeys – A Certain Romance Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I think this song is about people who are "dickheads", and that they exist in every one of our youth cultures and are not exclusive to any individual subculture. (As the first verse says.) It's as much about chavs as it is about those morons you can find in any 'scene'. What 'scene' they're part of really doesn't matter, they all behave the same. It's about how wrong it is that some people's lives revolve around getting smashed, 'getting laid', fighting, and being generally materialistic and aacting a moron. But then at the end, he sings about having friends who are similar, but he "just cannot get angry in the same way". I think this is something we can all related to - there are some traits and behaviour we despise and we loathe people who act in such a manner, and yet we are actually fond of people who act similarly, but we can't help but love them regardless. I can definitely relate to the lyrics a lot. This is a fucking amazing song, and is even more amazing live (like all of Arctic Monkeys' songs, to be honest). I just hope that this and other songs don't lose meaning when AM become popular and people start singing the songs not knowing what the lyrics mean. |
