Roxy Music – Avalon Lyrics

There are certain unexpected moments when you get a certain feeling as if your life is going to change. Somehow I feel this song is about that-- \"I see you coming out of nowhere...\" A moment seen clearly. |

Melissa Etheridge – I'm The Only One Lyrics

Honey, if you think Melissa is ugly you\'ve smoked too much kudzu. Go listen to some Freebird or something.
This song makes me wonder if she was thinking of Julie Cypher/kd lang\'s non-adulterous adultery. IE, they had this emotional thing going but there was no touchy-touchy. Supposedly Melissa gave \'em permission... and well, the rest is history.
It sucks that GLBT celebs either have to totally hide who they are OR have every little effin\' drama in their lives reported by Peoople Mag. Ugh. |

Cornershop – Brimful Of Asha Lyrics
|
in short:
Asha Bhonsle: Incredibly famous playback singer in Bollywood movies. She\'s been singing since the 40\'s along with her sister Lata Mangeshkar, who is also mentioned in the song. Mohammed Rafi is another increidibly famous playback singer.
In Bollywood movies the actors lip synch and the playback singers provide the actual voices. But-- playback singers are famous on their own, and sell lots of records.
FWIW, Asha was one of the singers in \"Lagaan\" which was a x-over hit here in the US. |

X – Los Angeles Lyrics

This song is actually pretty straightforward-- it was a small-town friend of Exene & John\'s from their early X days. She couldn\'t handle being in Los Angeles & had to go home.
I like how it portrays LA in all its gritty, soul-sucking glory. No one ever talks about that side of it, walking down Broadway in the downtown after midnight, Inglewood Ave, North Hollywood or Santa Monica Blvd. past La Cienega. Now that\'s REALLY Los Angeles. |

Los Lobos – Rita Lyrics

Hildago & Perez manags to capture the absolute *essence* of depression in this song. They\'ve put a pedal steel in back of it that just reinforces the hopelessness of it all... stuck, stuck up in the air. |

Melissa Etheridge – An Unusual Kiss Lyrics

VegasJames: Nope, you\'re not. This lyric:
\"My baby (me=1, baby=2) draws the shades as the taxi (person who\'s got some \'splaining to do=3) pulls away\"
Pretty much settles THAT question. Hot, hot song. |
