I really don't wanna get into politics, but the war in Iraq really had nothing to do with our freedom. Yes, it was good to rid the world of a facist dictator, but we lost many good people because of it. Iraq had little to do with 9/11 and the war on terror is on a still support. Don't be ignorant and generalize anti-war in iraq supports like myself. What Bush did after 9/11 was admirable, but war in Iraq was not needed. |

Actually if you think a lil more bout the lyrics, what they are actually saying is that there is a lack of education, and that our society if forgetting the importance of intellectualism. "We can usually learn but we burn and then we waste it." The institution reference isn't directed toward learning institutions, more so it references doctors and such that quickly diagnose people with "disabilities"...ie ADD and ADHD. It seems as though this is mainly a pro education rant. |

311 never writes about how "shitty" the world is. This is exactly what "Love is a Stream" points out. (Good song by the way, purpose is super melodic). This is about being optimistic throughout the rougher times. It's definately not concuring with the cliche annotation that "this world sucks." You must look through the dark to find the light, optimistics grow, refuse to be jaded and enjoy this world for its beauty and complexity, don't focus so much on its flaws. |

Please don't compare 311 to the Barenaked Ladies ever again. This is quite an evolution from the days of Music and Grassroots, but really if you listen to those albums they both have mellow tunes with the same sorta reggae feel. Some "old-school" fans must not really be true fans. I've been listening to 311 since I was 9 and I have just enjoyed the journey they have taken me on, through the rockers of the Blue Album, to the incredibly transcendental vibes from Transistor. Old school I am but 311 is staying true to themselves and few bands still do that, and you have to respect them for possessing such a rare quality. Enjoy them while you can, and leave the naysaying to the naysayers. |
