Just to clarify, John Fogerty is not from Louisiana. He is, as Mfrade stated, from California. Berkeley, CA to be exact. Berkeley is about 75 miles east of a small town called (you guessed it) Lodi, CA. It's likely that he was refering to that particular Lodi and not the other popular one in New Jersey. |

I'm not sure about the current train of thought. To me this song is about the fact that his relationship that he is involved in is only for something else (money, green card, status quo, etc...) and not love. Almost like a marriage of convenience or something to that effect. |
