They are a band of Christians, but they fully believe that if you are a Christian, it's not just something you check at the door with your career; your whole life is dedicated to Christ. This song is about her reaction to the sacrifice of Jesus. A lot of the lyrics come straight out of scripture: John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." Lamentations 3:22-23 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. This song (and this whole album, for that matter) are filled with Scriptural references. I can see the connection you're going for with the military, but I believe that this song is about Jesus. |
