I agree with texastersdr0p, that it's about a girl, and the failure to show her how he really feels. I also agree that it could mean that he is hiding his self anger and his emotions from others, but if you listen to the song and read the lyrics closely, there's someone else involved in the problem: hence the word "sympathetic". he waits for her to understand, and he's always there for her no matter what, but she doesn't know how he really feels, and that's where the line "the same old feelings are taking over" and there's nothing he can do about the way he feels, "and I can't seem to make it go away". apparently he was hurt by her or someone else("and the scars I'm left with swallow again")(possibly her"and the words you left me linger on"),and he doesn't want it to happen again, so he pushes her away even though he cares so much for her. he doesn't want to get hurt, but without her, he's lost("I'm falling, falling....") I know that that's all sounding like I'm some freak, but who cares, I just needed to get that whole thing off my chest, because I been through that. I hate it so much, and yet, I can't help but fall for her. I drags me down every day, and it hurts to keep it all locked inside. anyway, Seether rocks hard core. I love this band, their deffinately one of my top bands ever. they're the best! |

| I hate this song and love it with a passion all at once. it helps me through the times that I think of memeories, yet it reminds me how I felt, and how I still feel. nothing hurts more than to lose the one that you love more than life itself. I don't think this song is saying that such loss is inevitable. I think it says that it happens, and none of us think it will happen to us. It's been a year now, for the loss of the one I loved. I try to make the memories go away, and the more I try, the more it hurts. I just want her to go away, I wish it all never happened, but it did. | good point, but it does have chester in it, an it sounds sweet. Yeah, it may be about digging up his girlfriend, but the whole song, he sings like she's already alive, so maybe he is trying to "revive" her, in a sense, but only metaphorically speaking. I think that She became popular, or something, through some things she did, and in his eyes, she's lost, and that the world will fall on her in some way, where every one will be angry at her, hence "I'll take the world when it turns on you" and he'll be the only one that she's got left, and then she'll be "revived" in the sense that she's bakc to the way she was, the way that he likes her. | |

no, that is a great song I\'ve decided one thing, and that is that it\'s true. you never know exactly what you have learned to you slow down and take a look at your life. I agree with all of you that say that this song is about the loss of a loved one. when I first heard this song, I was going through a difficult time with my ex girlfriend. I couldn't let go of her, and though I drew anger out of myself, and tried to get rid of her memories, she stayed in my head; she was in my dreams, she was in my thoughts. it brang me down, and started to destroy me. This song gave me a place to hide, a song that understood me. Though she was gone, and I still secretly looked out for her, I still loved her. It tore me apart. This song means to me, that you can do so much for a person, you can give your whole self to someone, and they can tare you apart. No matter what you do. they may never come back, and you may still love them, and all you can do is just sit back and watch, and look out for her, an invisible body guard, and hopefully some day they will see that you are there, and even though they left you, you were always there for them, and nothing can change that, and may never will.
