It's an ode to teenage love. It takes years to understand what this song means. I listened to this as a 14 year old not knowing what the hell they were saying. Now as a 34 year old, I get it. There is just this feeling you get with your first love. It's an all-encompassing mutual infatuation. As you grow older, you fall in love, but it's a more mature love. According to the video, she feels bad. She's getting old. Maybe she feels like she'll never feel that newly in love feeling like she did back then. Then she finds her first love and they spend time together and although there are sparks, she realizes that all consuming love belongs to teenagers. It's not for adults. It belongs in the teenage heaven that it creates where it's just the two of you. But you need to see that as someone out of that stage of life. That doesn't mean love in your 20's or 30's isn't great. It's just different, in a good way. It's wonderful in a forever way where there's no need for that head in the cloud feeling. Teenage love belongs to teenagers. Enjoy it, but don't mourn it and look back at it as the end all, be all of the kinds of relationship there is. Don't chase it when it's gone. |

| I can't help but listen to this and see how history continues to repeat itself. It changes and adapts to the times, but it's still repeating. | |

"Your skin Oh yeah your skin and bones Turn into something beautiful And you know for you I'd bleed myself dry for you I'd bleed myself dry" Since this is a love song, I've always thought of that as having a child. Maybe they had a child and he sees that out of the woman he loves came something beautiful like a child. |
