I think it is just about as close to a perfect song that could exist. I agree with everyone about the end. The writing is amazing, but it also demonstrates what an incredible musician he was...he can create this little piano song and then turn it into this complex multi-layered beautiful thing. shivers. |

I always thought this song would be a great background music to a documentary about a protest or something. I know that's not very Elliott...But for me the song is really a description of the tensions and pain and heightened energy that comes out of human relationships. |

my mother claims that her boyfriend in high school was hitchhiking and he was picked up by lou reed and company. He said that he talked about my mother, Lorraine, quite a bit and talked about her problems at home - she ran away several times and was otherwise "wild." And then this song came out...i am wondering if anyone has any idea who Lorraine in this song is? |
