I think this song, to some extent is about a guy getting bullied so much that he basically goes over the edge, kidnapps the bullies and basically puts them in a room with him where he plans to balst them all away. Ok im going to be different from every1 else and disuss wat this song is about This song is about a guy called Adam who emailed the band his suicide note, cause he fully loved the band. The line "I traced the cord back to the wall No wonder it was never plugged in at all" was initially never ment to be in the song, but Mark added it in when they were practicing the song and he plugged in his amp, turned it on but it dint work. So he traced the chord back to the wall and discovered it wasn't plugged in at all. Just as well cause apparently the plug and the socket where covered in water, so if it was plugged in he probably would have died. This song is talking about the depression of Adam and how sometimes Mark gets depressed when he's on tour cause he gets homesick, so he knows wat the little dude was talking about. He dedicated the song to him by obviuosly calling it Adam's song and it tells how at the end of the day there are better things to do then kill yourself when you are deppresed. There is a huge contrast between verses 4 and 5, ones pesemistic and ones opptimistic. This is shown by in the 4th verse "16 just held such better days Days when I still felt alive" then in verse 5 it goes, "Tomorrow just holds such better days Days when I can still feel alive". This shows the two sides of depression, overcoming it and getting on with your life and depression beating u and u obviuosly ending your life. In the 4th verse we see how he doesnt want to go on, its "too late to try" and how "I COULDN'T wait till I GOT home to pass the time in my room alone", which changes to, "I can't wait till I get home, to pass the time...". This possibly shows that in verse 4 the boy has comitted suicide cause its in past tense, and he seems to be talking about wat he wanted to do and in verse 5 hes still alive and talks about wat he's going to do. The whole song is basically a metaphor for the two products of depression, suicide and staying alive. Im not sure about this but the whole apple juice thing was probably in the email. Its probably something to do with his mum going off at him when he spilt apple juice. Now hes saying, don't worry mum im not killing myself because of you or the way u treted me... sort of thing. But not sure. The rest of the song pretty much explains itself, its just saying you think im joking about killing myself, well youll b sorry when im gone. And also talks about how everyone will try and not nesisaraly forget about his death, but try and "close it off, bored it up". Meaning youll never speak of me again. Brilliant song, with so much hidden meaning you could probably do a thesis on it. I can identify atleast 5 other meanings behind it, but I've only touched on the surface and cant explain in words the other meanings through words, just gotta listen to it heaps. green day r better then Blink 182... sorry guys |
