there's also an interview somewhere where gerard explains it more. his and mikey's grandmother's name was helen but everyone called her elena, so gerard called her helena. she encouraged him to get into arts and to start a band, and bought them their first van. if you're already a fan, check out the issue! it's amazing! if you're not... you will be after reading it! |

From June 2005 issue of SPIN (w/ MCR on the cover) 'It was the November 2003 passing of the Ways' grandmother (the inspiration for Three Cheers' best song Helena) that pushed Gerard to a more dangerous form of escape. "I couldn't deal with her death," he says, "and I took my first Xanax. After that it snowballed. I would get wasted for the show, then need to shut my brain off at night- because my brain is always moving a million miles a minute. The pills allowed me to relax and sleep. But then cocaine came into play, and everything went out of whack." ' I totally recommed getting this issue to read about them. For their photos, its a whole comic book theme, which is pretty funny, and after reading about Gerard's struggles and the band's commitment to him I totally fell in love with My Chem all over again! |

| joey lauren adams wrote this song and then kevin smith, the director of chasing amy (who she was dating at the time, because the movie is based on their relationship) liked it so much he put it in the movie. she actually wrote it as a country song, but they changed it to fit the scene better. definitely an awesome scene in one of my favorite movies! | |

i dont know... ok i havent really heard alot of their songs but i love all the ones i've heard. i'm just writing to say that i agree with whoever said that "to the end" is the sequel. I definitely think they're connected because in this song there is the lyrics "we can wash down this engagement ring with poison and kerosene" and in "to the end" they say "I'll forget all the diamonds you ate". so ya maybe their connected, but i cant figure out how because i dont really know the songs all that well! will someone who does let me know what they think? |
