the rise of the individual, the despair of modern life, the lack of opportunity to manifest the love intinct; The 20th century marked the growth of the individual's need to find meaning in life. Consumerism is what happens when the need for meaning outweighs the means for finding it. The 20th century saw the rise of organized sports as we know them, the state as we know it, and the performer as we know him. These are a few of our sources of collective meaning. This is only relevant as far as I think that this song has something to do with the difficulty of transmitting emotions and experience to the masses. I think this because of the parts about mickey mouse, the chorus, and the parts about the silver screen. This is the first time I've ever read these lyrics. |
