Local H – The One With "Kid" Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this tune. I can immediately tell that Scott actually went through a major crappy breakup and that he's not just writing about one. This one really hurt him.

some corrections:

My heart of glass 12 inch "is" scratched
"Winning" is misspelled
"College" is misspelled
"Coronation" is misspelled
won't stand and watch you "got" our home
"Laugh" is misspelled
Can't stand here watch you "got" our home
Lots of times "won't" is missing an apostrophe

It sounds like this song needs to be coming out of a gerbil with an umbrella. On said pink ubrella, there needs to be blue water droplets with "men" written thusly on them.

entity994, i think you're wrong on this one. Trent is being way too literal in the Fragile Left. This song represents the feeling of empiness that was left when his grandmother, Clara, died. Read my comments on tracks 2 through 7 of Left. This song is the funeral. It represents Trent's loss and hopelessness after Clara's death in "Just Like You Imagined." When you see that Left is about Clara's sickness and death, The whole disc comes together and tells a single cohesive tale.

It's not the shitty art that let's everyone be all touchy feely, this disc flat out tells a story.

Review for "Just Like You Imagined" :

Crap, i didn't think that "Just Like You Imagined" wouldn't have a review on this site. Well, this song is the point at which Trent's grandmother dies. It simply reeks of sadness and anger. The song culminates in a massive scream, in which Trent's sadness turns completely into rage. This song marks the beginning of the remorseful end of Left, where Trent feels alone and reaches out for his grandmother.

On a side note, i feel so much admiration for a man that is willing to pour his whole heart and soul into an albumn.

Fuck all those boy bands and shitty pop bands out there. The Fragile is a work of art that they could never hope to achieve.

SovereignXcomfort has this one right. This song is another piece of the progression from his grandmother's diagnosis of a terminal illness to her death. After We're in this Together, where Trent feels powerful enough to overcome the illness by love, this song is another expression of that power. He feels that he can save her on his own. However, I think this song shows that he's starting to realize that there's nothing he can do. The blaring guitar at the end of this track is exactly the same chord progression as in track 3, The Frail. Listen to the the guitar solo and The Frail back to back, you'll hear it. The guitar solo is Trent's last statement of his love for his grandma, the woman who raised him. The solo is the last loving thing on this disc. After this song, the Left falls into a hole of anger, despair, and remorse. On to the song where Clara actually dies, "Just Like You Imagined..."

You guys are all very close. It's a love song and a statement of commitment to his grandmother, Clara. As i stated in my comments on TDTWWA, The Frail, and The Wretched, this song is about his grandmother's illness and death. This song is about the point of strength where Trent felt that he and his grandmother could overcome her illness by faith, hope, and love. The song just oozes the power and strength that comes from love. The progression from the power of this song into the superhuman "i won't let you fall apart" in track 6, The Fragile, seems very natural. On to The Fragile...

This tune is again about Trent's grandmother, Clara. It is not about Manson. Read my comments on The Day the World Went Away and The Frail. Once Clara was diagnosed as terminally ill (in TDTWWA), she underwent therapy (like chemo, or something similar) that put her in the hospital with all of the other terminally ill patients (Trent refers to the terminally ill as The Wretched). So lines like "and now you're one of us, the wretched" make a lot of sense, right? When you see this song (and all of the Left) in this light, it all starts to make cohesive sense. restin256 said it's like a prision. You're very close, it's a hospital for those doomed to death. Moving on to "We're in this Together..."

This song and its chord progression is Trent's theme song for his grandmother (read my comment on The Day the World Went Away). It represents her beauty and vulnerability. The melody is repeated by the lead guitar at the end of track 6, The Fragile. You'll have to listen to the two a couple of times, but after you get it once, it's very obvious. This song leads nicely into The Wretched...

on the fragile... i heard that Left was about the death of Trent's grandmother, Clara. So, my interpretation of this song must fit the enterpretation of Left. Trent said himself on the NIN site a couple of days ago, You don't build a house a room at a time, you design the whole thing, then get to work. If Left is about the death of his grandmother, TDTWWA is about the day he found out that she was terminally ill. The plastic face is the doctor revealing to Trent and his Clara that she is going to die. When he knew she was terminal, nothing else mattered, the world went away. I can only imagine that a moment like that would burn deeply into Trent. He would write a song about that moment. The albumn moves on to The Frail, a song devoted to his grandmother...
