The Police – Synchronicity II Lyrics 19 years ago
this song just reminds me off the surburbs and how oridinary, dull, and grey life can be. the best part of this song is the dad, how he trys his best to mask his frustrations.

The Police – Message In A Bottle Lyrics 19 years ago
the police were a punk band, but they quickly realized that they were much older and better musicans then the average punk band. so they branched out. copeland was in a band called Curved Air, which was a 70's progressive band.

message in the bottle, in my opinion is about about one person professing his loneliness to the world and world saying, we all are. deal.

The Police – Every Breath You Take Lyrics 19 years ago
i have the police box set and in it sting says its about ownership, survaliance and jealousy. So in a way, it could be about the cold war. But I think more so, it was about the end of a relationship and the trouble we have letting go. when he wrote it he was going through a divorce as well, which leads me to believe this even more. either way, its an amazing song that goes down as one the greatest songs in history.

The White Stripes – Death Letter Lyrics 19 years ago
I heard them place this live once a little club, Majestics in Detroit right before the white stripes released white blood cells. It was really rocking. I think Son House would have liked it.

Ryan Adams – Come Pick Me Up Lyrics 19 years ago
Ryan Adams borrows too much from Paul Westerberg. I mean all songs are influenced from another before them, but man! Ryan Adams sounds, writes and even dresses like his idol, Paul Westerberg.

even still, he's better than most out there right now.

Androgynous has it dead on. Shane can spin the most amazing dark tales of love and loss.

Wilco – Via Chicago Lyrics 19 years ago
About his mother?? I really doubt it. Its more about hating the fact you are leaving someone you love so very much and the fact that a relationship is over. I think the distance between them (the Embarcaderoe is in san francisco and he's in Chicago) is too much for them to take. He wishes he could "kill" her in his mind so he doesnt have to deal.

Wilco – Jesus, Etc. Lyrics 19 years ago
i think that it hints on the evitable that all things good or bad must past. "each star is a setting sun"

"our love is all we have" --enjoy life while got it

"each one is burning sun" we too our burning stars and we have our moment and then we are gone.

or it could very well be about drugs

Wilco – Far, Far Away Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah, its a straightforward song of longing for someone. wonderfully done. I used to play it all the time when I was 2000 miles aways from my girl.

The Shins – New Slang Lyrics 19 years ago
new slang reminds me of "stephanie says" by the Velvet Underground. Gives off the same vibe of missed chances and not being able to escape your lot in life. As for how you've heard of the shins, I agree that it shouldnt matter how you discovered them, but it sorta does. it rubs you the wrong way when your favorite band becomes mainstream. Mostly it sucks when some frat boy or sorority girl in their abercrombie uniform, announces how your favorite song defines them. You, (believing yourself to be much cooler and original) wonder how in the hell can you have something in common with that dude. But in the end, a good song is a good song and won't be denied. At least the shins did not sell out, they did it their way.
