| The Killers – Glamorous Indie Rock and Roll Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i shop in secondhand stores fairly often and at least a few of them sell old magazines, books, records, etc. etc. and shopping in thrift stores being considered an indie thing is idiotic, despite the fact that indie people often reckon they do. the 'vintage' outfits most people wear are brand new and expensive as hell, but, you know. actually living up to what you're saying doesn't matter, right? |
| Green Day – St. Jimmy Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"and "i didnt intend this to be an argument" wtf well than maybe in your post you shouldnt of said "basschickrocker YOU ARE A FOOL"!!" that wasn't me =) as i said in...um...i dunno, some post up there. |
| Green Day – St. Jimmy Lyrics | 20 years ago |
if you're not big on labels, why would you try to label something? &you haven't proven anything at all, actually. how exactly does saying "this argument is pointless" prove your point? (and as an aside, i didn't intend this to be an argument) if green day were ever punk, none of this album is. they've become completely manufactured. (wearing the formal clothes on stage, the makeup, etc etc) |
| Green Day – St. Jimmy Lyrics | 20 years ago |
actually, no, green day are not 'punk'. they're pop-punk at best. and just because billie joe says their music is punk doesn't make it true. i mean, if he'd said that they were techno it wouldn't make that true either. him saying it doesn't prove anything at all. and as a note: different person, using the same account. before i get e-beaten. :) |
| Green Day – St. Jimmy Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| basschickrocker YOU ARE A FOOL. stop pretending to be punk. greenday are not and were never punk. they are not reinventing punk. they are not shoving "what PUNK really means back into everybody's faces. it rocks." becauase this album is not punk, none of their aldums ever were. so go get a fuking life already. | |
| Fall Out Boy – 7 Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
reminds me more of when Pete flipped out (ie, really really flipped out) and got all paranoid about his own mortality and almost OD'd on atavan than being about a girl. haha. |
| Green Day – St. Jimmy Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| you all suck. | |
| The Pogues – And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda Lyrics | 20 years ago |
...and lots of Australians consider it the unofficial national anthem, should the national anthem change or not. ;) And the bit at the end, just as a bit of trivia [the 'waltzing matilda, waltzing matilda, who'll come a-waltzing matilda with me...'] comes straight from the original Waltzing Matilda. =) |

| Green Day – Christie Road Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Maaann, I miss old Green Day... | |
| Bloodhound Gang – Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo Lyrics | 20 years ago |

*giggles* ...*giggles again* These guys rule. This is so...catchy. XD And I love them for it. |
| Green Day – Boulevard of Broken Dreams Lyrics | 20 years ago |
And yes, it's common knowledge that Billie Joe isn't the best guitar player. He admits it, for crying out loud. [he's said he's more of a rhythm guitar player] And yeah, if you're talking about SKILLS, why only mention Billie Joe? If you listen to Tre drum, for example...well...just the SPEED that he drums is incredible. There's three people in the band, not one... And kailkay, the way I see it you're almost right, but if you listen to it in the context of the album, he's a street kid who ran away from a broken home. =p |
| Green Day – Boulevard of Broken Dreams Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| *giggles* I can't believe you mentioned Bon Jovi in the same sentence as Jimi Hendrix... | |
| Minor Threat – Straight Edge Lyrics | 20 years ago |
See, jiffy, people like you suck. Nobody wants someone else's beliefs forced on them. It's their body. They can put whatever they want into it. See, I personally AM straight edge, but even so, those straightedge kids who preach at others and stuff piss me off. It's a personal thing and it is NOT up to you what others do with their lives. That, that is why you should never again say 'spread the straight edge'. Because it's not something you try to spread. That's like saying 'they're so fucked up from being [this is an example, I don't feel this way, no offence to Jews meant] Jewish that it doesn't matter what they say. Spread the Christianity.' Dickhead. |
| Elton John – Daniel Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Smittie, I always thought of that line as, well, he's going back there because he saw it before he lost his eyesight and thought it was beautiful. It reminds me a little of a short story I read where an old man went on a vacation with his wife near the beach and they were talking about things like how beautiful the sunset over the ocean was, and then it turned out he couldn't see, but he could remember it. =) |
| Gwen Stefani – Cool Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Well, if you ignore the video, then the other comments fit. The video probably wasn't thought up by Gwen [who I'm assuming wrote the song], and therefore can have quite a different meaning than the lyrics - much like Green Day's 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' [heh, the only example I could think of off the top of my head] - that video is based on a guy going to join the army, but that doesn't mean that's what the song's about. And in the video, the way I see it, she was unsure at first but then she realised it was all good =) |
| Hilary Duff – Wake Up Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Fallen, I was thinking the exact same thing. If celebrities didn't want to be famous, they shouldn't have taken up acting/'singing'. Being rich and famous doesn't suck, and if she thinks it does, she's an idiot. | |
| Good Charlotte – Riot Girl Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Uh yeah just a couple of things...switchfoot, if I was willing to go anywhere near any member of Good Charlotte, actually I would say how much they suck to their face. And benjisriotgirl, why the hell would you call yourself benji's riot girl? I mean honestly, a lot of people have lots of tattoos and piercings, that doesn't mean jack if the songwriter doesn't know you. Dude. Good Charlotte suck. Really, really hard. The fact that they namedropped Social Distortion and Minor Threat kinda disturbs me. As for the meaning of the song, I'm pretty sure it's your basic 'I must be hardXcore and punk rawk, as I like girls like this. Who are hardXcore. Which makes me hardXcore.' And |

| From First to Last – Populace in Two Lyrics | 20 years ago |
When you think about it, it could actually be about a crazed/stalkerish fan. I mean, who else really throws a lamp through someone's window, gives them a bad enough wound that they need stitches, and then phones them? It's like 'Leave a message after the beep. *beep* Hi, it's me again. You know, the girl that broke your window, gashed open your stomach and killed your mom? Yeah...just wanna say hi!' |
| From First to Last – Secrets Don't Make Friends Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I'm pretty sure it's 'promises are only words'...xD... | |
| AFI – Who Said You Could Touch Me? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Uhm, stupidpunkkid, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be grateful for the fact that you're practically assaulted/molested/whatever just because the people doing it know who you are. | |
| AFI – This Secret Ninja Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Yeah, it being about fans makes a lot of sense to me... Muse, he may hold those normal ones in the highest respect - or so you think, how do you even know that's true? - but I'm sure that just about NOBODY respects someone who thinks that just because they're a fan that they own him, and if he does one thing they don't want him to they get annoyed. Period. |
| Good Charlotte – Thank You Mom Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Um, just to clarify, it's not that people don't like Good Charlotte because they aren't 'hardcore', as people said...it's more the fact that they keep on saying that they're punk when they're pop. There's nothing wrong with pop, but it's irritating when people claim to be punk and then go and rape the memory of Sid Vicious. Copying a punk doesn't make you a punk, because the whole idea of punk is NONconformity. Aka NOT copying/following. Overall, though, this is a sweet song...their first album was the best, although they went downhill from there. Haha. |
| Marilyn Manson – Para-Noir Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Hehe on my version of this song it sounds like it says "Fuck you because I loved you Fuck you for loving you too" hehe ;x I'm not stupid I swear... |
| Silverchair – After All These Years Lyrics | 20 years ago |
The father-son thing seems to be right, but I was thinking it could possibly also be about his relationship with his wife...at least it seems that way in some parts. "You'll be home again And I'll be home again" "You'll be whole again And I'll be whole again" Those lines especially come across like that to me, because essentially they have a long-distance relationship. |
| From First to Last – The One Armed Boxer vs. The Flying Guillotine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Yeah, to me this means the way the band/Sonny perform...if you verse by verse it makes sense... hello ladies and gentleman, I'm glad you've graced me with your presence you're in time to see me wrestle with my consience and staring in the si-si-si-silence [He's thankful that the people have come to the show, and he's saying that they'll see him dealing with whatever he's feeling and using it in the song.] you see I came to save the stage, I hope I'm not too late passion called from back behind the curtain screaming, "sonny this is urgent" [his passion for what he does is what makes him go out there and perform, and it's important for him to do it.] fill these 50 persons with a purpose, but don't just give it away inspiration isn't cheap these days, you better make them earn it [give the audience a purpose, but don't just let them have it, make them interact, they need to 'earn' a good show] ... how do I address the letter to my generation? sonny she said, "save yourself the postage" how do I address a letter to my generation? sonny she said, "sing it in person." [how can he get his message across and say what he wants to say to his generation, and he's being advised by his conscience or whatever to sing it to them, to show them what he wants to say through song.] Just my thoughts, =D that's what it means to me. |

| Midnight Oil – Beds Are Burning Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Hmm. That's a good question, but I have no clue. And what shauncreaney says somehow reminds me of other countries delusions about Australia. Everyone seems to think we have kangaroos in our backyards, and speak with a Steve Irwin accent, and are all basically yobbos who use their money in 'pissing it all away in booze and cheap women'. Eh. Great song though, you have to love Midnight Oil. For some reason I've always associated them with R.E.M. though...I have no clue why, hehe ;x |
| Ben Folds – Rockin' The Suburbs Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I.Love.Ben.Folds. This song is the best thing I've ever heard, except I've never heard the whole thing because I/someone who's with me always seems to be laughing. "I'm rockin' the suburbs Just like Michael Jackson did I'm rockin' the suburbs Except that he was talented" I love those lines XD |
| From First to Last – Ultimatums For Egos Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Actually I think it could well be both... Ultimatums For Egos seems to say that someone gave him an ultimatum, because they had such a big ego they thought he would choose them, but then he chose whatever the other thing was. And he didn't want it to happen, but the other person gave him that ultimatum and he took it. xP so a breakup because of an ultimatum... |
| Marilyn Manson – mOBSCENE Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Turquoise, the 'you want committment/put on your best suit/get your arms around me now' part seems to be an allusion to modern-day marriages which are just, really, a spur-of-the-moment thing these days and almost a status symbol. That's how it comes off to me, anyway. |
| From First to Last – Note To Self Lyrics | 20 years ago |
The song is /obviously/ about Jimmy Hoffa. "Which part of me is lost, I feel so close and yet I am so far." All of him is lost...forever? He feels so close to being found, yet in reality he's far from it. Okay, no. I just felt like being an idiot. =P |
| Kisschasy – Do Do's and Whoa-oh's Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I love this song, and kisschasy in general...and even though MTV has seemingly picked up this song (on the occasions when I flick through the channels, this always seems to be on o_O) I can't find it anywhere, which sucks. As for the meaning...this basically, comes across to me as just, well, a song making fun of other songs. All the stereotypical junk they have in them. Yeah. And how a song will get airplay basically only having a song that goes do-do and whoa-oh ...lol =) |
| From First to Last – X12 Days Of XXXMASX Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Lmao! "9 LJ comments"...I love that :) Yeah, if people can make fun of themselves, it makes me love them. Haha. |

| Bowling for Soup – Jimmy Neutron Theme Song Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Oh man, Bowling For Soup are so cool XD | |
| Mötley Crüe – If I Die Tomorrow Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Lol I didn't notice that about the video, but now that you mention it... And, what it seems to mean to me - well, some parts - like the "And when all the time has gone It still seems so unreal" and "I can’t remember Have I said all I can say?" Seems to be saying, like, the time's passed really fast, so fast it doesn't seem like it's already been that long; and wondering whether everything you could have done, and can do, has been done. If you died tomorrow would you be...um...how to put this...fulfilled? Schmeh good enough :P |
| Ben Folds Five – Brick Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Principessa1180: Maybe he didn't want her to have the abortion, but in the end it's her choice...and/or he doesn't want to have to get the baby aborted but they couldn't handle having a kid... Kienapp, I have no idea. Ben Folds Five is a band...maybe Ben Folds is just solo...or maybe they're just two names for one thing. |
