hmmmm my two cents is no ones considered that the original bloke could have died? like in the video he dies? it sounds a lot to me like shes dealing with her grief and cant believe shes with someone else coz her heart still belongs to him - "i was disgusted with myself"
she feels like she still belongs to him even though hes gone, she cant believe he has "how could i let myself let you go"

to me its that she loves him so much and has put everything into their relationship, but shes come to the realisation that hes just not putting in what she is and she knows what shes got to do - its facing up to the fact that sometimes love isnt enough, and thats why the last verse sounds like shes almost crying because it hurts her to say it, she knew things werent right for a while, but then she sees him wanting more from her because she loves him so much she tries. she feels like she has nothing left she can give and it kills her. |

personally i take it in the literal sense - hes leaving 'when you take your flight' and he finally told her he loved her thinkning she would go with him and she pretended to hate him so itd b easier to say goodbye when he left.
the second verse - 'you should be weaker then sending me home, i cant stop you fighting to sleep' is like when you want to stay wrapped up and falling asleep with him and hes like ok well you better go its getting late.
coz its like NOOOOO just let me stay here with you!!

for me, its like its not the character he plays its just the words in the song, bit of bad and a bit of good is always the best.
i have been in love with the same guy for 7 years but we never knew we liked each other til january this year and one night we were crashed on the sofa at mine, i had my eyes closed just lovin bein there with him and he thought i was asleep and started whisperin this song. he still doesnt know i was awake! were not together coz i had 2 move away for uni but wen i get back we agreed we would be together.

to me, i had a very manipulative ex who walked back into my life and made everything go wrong a second time, 'that is just so you, comin back when i finally moved on' and when she sang it live, i finally feel like he cant do it to me any more. its so unbelieveable how much i can actually relate to it: 'doesnt matter what you do its what you did thats hurting you' yeah. so ha. |

i think this is not necessarily about two people in love, i think its about loving someone whether its your best friend, partner, family member or anyone and seeing so much in them that no1 else can see.
even when they do something wrong and no1 else cares and they want to give up 'no-one listens when your angry' 'so dont give up its not the way' the speaker is there for them 'ive been waiting all along to congratulate your efforts, you really showed them who you are.'
i think its just about seeing someone in a way that no1 else does, and loving them for it.
