| Manchester Orchestra – I've Got Friends Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It seems to me it's about losing people you love to death, and wanting to follow them there. "dirt in the ground is what I see I need another reason why I need another reason, tell me to breathe" The friends in right places are dead, I suppose he's imagining them calling him to them. |

| Alkaline Trio – Burn Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think the song is about depression. "Intending to burn, pretending to fight it" "Things took a turn, lost all desire" Those two lines, and the part about hell being home seem to me to be about depression, how you fall into it, pretend to be trying to defeat it, but the reality is you're only pretending so people will leave you alone. | |

| This song is beautiful, the haunting guitar in the background. It perfectly captures all he's singing about. | |
| Alkaline Trio – Maybe I'll Catch Fire Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Anger and Depression "Sorry I don't even know your name I guess for me it's easy this way." searching for a way to forget the pain, so he sleeps with a girl, but he doesn't even know her name. But obviously if you don't know her name it's a lot easier to not get attached and thus hurt. |

| Bob Marley and the Wailers – I Shot The Sheriff Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
It's metaphor. He's not singing about an actual sheriff or a deputy. It's about intolerance and injustice. The sheriff I think is the police force as a whole, and he is saying "Yeah, I want to change the police". But he is also saying he can tell the difference between the police as an institution and the policemen who do it as a job. That is, he doesn't hate them, but what they stand for. |

Definately a song I relate to when I'm depressed, but the lines "Sorry I don't even know your name I guess for me it's easy this way." They have a twinge of something else. A bit like another innocent girl, he realises his problems effect other people too. |

| Alkaline Trio – Take Lots With Alcohol Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
If you've been to see a psychiatrist, you'd know what the song is talking about. "i dont know why i dont fall in love, maybe I know why, maybe you can make it stop" seems to be, to suggest he's so self obsessed about his own problems, he can't love anyoen else? also the last part "Been telling myself these jokes for so long well so long I'm a has been who is heckled on the stage " seems to me to be about denial. Trying to keep yourself smiling when you're depressed, but it just doesnt work for him anymore. |
