There was a lot of dispute on EvBoard about the second line of the song, and I just listened to it at a really high volume, and I hear "They're my own veins" and not "Through my own veins"... just wanted to know your thoughts on that... But anywho... this is a truely amazing song! The first time I heard it, I hadn't read the lyrics nor did I really have enough time to pay attention to them, so I was just like "eh", but now that I have read the lyrics and really paid attention to the meaning it's just like "wow..!" |

I don't have a problem with Amy being open either. I think there are times when someone just needs to say exactly what's on their mind and get it all out, and that's what this album was for Amy.. she just needed to say exactly what was on her mind. I wish I could do that with my poetry and lyric writing, but I'm not nearly ready enough to come out and say exactly what I mean, so I give props to Amy for being able to do that. |

From reading the lyrics, it seems like the undertone of the song's meaning is that she is afraid of feeling so happy, but she doesn't want to say no to happiness. | I don't see why everyone goes crazy because the first single isn't exactly like the last album. Every artist changes from album to album. I write music, myself, and the type of lyrics I wrote 2 years ago are way different than what I write now. Things change in life, and that is expressed in artisitic work. I really like the new Evanescence sound. I like the new sound for different reasons than I like the old sound. I really like how empowering this song is. | |

| I really like what I've heard of the new album so far with the clips of the songs on the Evanescence myspace. I personally like the new style of lyrics. I like the old style as well. I don't see why a band should stick to one way of writing just for familiarity's sake. | |

I think that it is talking about a person (I'm going to refer to this person as she so as not to confuse people since I don't feel like doing the he/she thing) and she is remembering someone she knew long ago who has moved on and they don't remember her anymore but she cared deeply for this person and now the memory is taking her over. It makes me think of my best friend... I moved a few years ago and we wrote for a year but then she stopped and I think about her a lot since we were such good friends. And let me say this: I would turn into a lesbian if I could be with Amy Lee... lol... she's awesome |

A few months ago one here someone asked what the "bandages" on her arms and legs were for. My friend (who spends most of his time searching the web) said that in the video she is supposed to be a ballerina and that is what the strips of cloth were for. I don't know if that's true, but that's what he says. I love this song oh so much. I love her voice. She is my fav female singer of all time!!! And I like her even more because she sings more high notes than a lot of female artists seem to and I can sing really high so it's nice that there is a singer who sings in my vocal range. Like on Anywhere But Home with her little intro on Bring Me To Life, I can reaach every one of those notes. It's awesome. And I figured out those begining notes that go to the intro type thing so I play them and sing all those lovely high notes. Okay, I guess I king of got off topic from this song. Oh, man on tv, go f yourself if you have nothing better to do than dis other people's music. Do you see me telling you what to listen to and what not to listen to? I think not. |

Okay, first I would like to say to everyone who is dissing the bands other people like: go f yourselves. Secondly, I would like to say to those of you Korn fans/Evanescence haters: go f yourselves again for bothering to come and post under Evanescence stuff. And thirdly: to everyone mentioned in the first two, quit saying certain bands suck and whatnot because no one is telling you to listen to them... have your own opinions and keep them to yourselves unless you and some of your dumbass friends are talking about it or whatever. We don't care what you think of the bands we like so just go f yourselves and get a life. Now that that's over with: I loved the way Evanescence did this. It was awesome. I heard the Korn version and it was kind of... odd. Okay, bad desciption, but whatever. I love Evanescence! They rock! |

And not to brag or anything but I can't help mentioning I am a lyric soprano and can reach the high notes really well and I've taped myself singing to the song and Amy and I sing in perfect harmony... we should do a song together... lol. Anywho, IIKatigerII I think the lyrics you put are right but according to my sheet music the one line "you've gone away" is in there as "you're gone away" Just thought I'd mention that since that is what my sheet music says, even though it sounds like "you've gone away" Okay, I'm stopping now.
