This is by far the best song Gavin Degraw has ever penned and performed. And obviously, hands down, my new favorite song by him. While I enjoy most of the songs off Gavin's albums, he sometimes sacrifices lyrical content for something that sounds catchy, yet doesn't quite make sense (i.e.- Chariot). BUT, this song is absolutely amazing. He sings it with a convincing amount of anguish and passion, using his voice to his advantage, and Gavin never strays away from the message of the song- that being that these two people are nothing without each other, that their love binds them together until their ends. Just a wonderful, wonderful piece of work. |

| Being in this exact situation (like most of you all, lol), I believe that this song is about a guy telling his "friend" that she can't just toy with his emotions anymore. I feel like these two have a history together, and although their relationship remained platonic for a while, she eventually crossed the line. And ladies and gents, once you cross that line, you can't ever fully revert back to being "just friends." That kiss, that hand-hold, whatever it was, will always be proof of your chemistry together. I believe that the guy not only wants to define the relationship, but also wants her to admit just how right they are for each other. And I like that he feels conflicted towards her; he wants her to wake up and realize that they should be together, but, at the same time, he's allowing her to "close her mind and waste some time." This wishy-washy attitude of the persona makes the song a lot more realistic and relatable to us, which is why John Mayer is amazing. He covers all the bases. | |

| Wow, I'm surprised at how many people interpreted this as a "couples fighting" kind of song. I guess I missed that angle. Well, I thought that Breathe referred to unrequited love. When you love someone, and they have no idea how you feel, it's frustrating to the point that we forget to take our time and breathe. We want the other person to really see us, but we end up rushing into the situation and making mistakes. I think this song serves as a reminder to be patient when waiting for someone to reciprocate feelings. I always loved that Breathe is a hopeful, calming anthem for someone waiting for the One to wake up. | |

These two lines make this song my favorite on the album: Fingers trace your every outline Paint a picture with my hands A lot of people seem to be talking about how all of Maroon 5's songs are about sex, and while I agree that there is a definite sexual undertone to them, I think that Sunday Morning captures the sweet, subtle kind of passion that the band's aiming for in their lyrics. When you're with someone you love or care about, just touching them takes on new meaning. You're trying to memorize and worship every part of their body, and it's amazing that this type of reverance can be found in mere touch. That's what I love about Maroon 5's lyrics: they're very precise in a sense, but once you look deeper, you discover new angles. |

This song hits me right in the gut, and I can relate to it better than any of the others on her album (which are all wonderful). It's about two people who were in love, but the guy only wanted to be with her at his convenience. And while he's off "making it big", no matter how famous he gets, only the two of them will know what really went wrong in their relationship. Moral of the story: Don't get involved with male musicians. |

| Oh, such a sweet, touching song. Just like others have said before, it's simple love song about people making it work when it shouldn't. Whether it's not being on the same page, or just being plain out wrong for each other, their love eclipses all of the other obstacles. | |
