sorry, I had to add this. I was looking through the book(blindness) at quotes i underlined, and i came across this one: "Don’t lose yourself, don’t let yourself be lost, he said, and these were unexpected, enigmatic words that didn’t seem to fit the occasion. " BAM! Laura Veirs owns, cause she can take something like that book that has a totally different vibe and create something new and almost entirely different from it. |

whoa! I love this song. Has anyone here read the book "Blindness"?? I'm pretty sure this song is somewhat based off of it. I mean, it's weird cause some of the lines seem to have nothing to do with it, but there are many that seem to be straight from it. such as "the romantic air of your eyepatch called me across the room" "Neccesity conquers fear" (which i think is a direct quote from the book) "Dreaming we were stones" "waking to a world of white blindness" "painted eyes of the holy one". Sorry, I'm sure this doesn't make any sense if you haven't read the book, but i thought i would point them out. And what an odd day for me to find this song, because it's the release day of the movie Blindness. |

| Bodies Of Water – I Guess I'll Forget the Sound, I guess, I guess Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| beutiful, beautiful song. i wish i knew what they meant. the sound...the sound...the sound of breaking hearts? who's hearts? this song would be awesome if it was about a people group effected by some disatser, like the holocaust, but i dont think it is. | |

yeah, i know, right? i googled him expecting to find a bunch of news stories of some dying kid, but nothing. I'm thinking it's just someone Conor personally knew, or knew of. Or perhaps he just made him up. I love this song a whole lot. |

He's saying "El Cielo es azul." Which means, "The sky is blue." BTW, the first two verses sound like their about immigration to me. But not the rest. |

| Conor Oberst – Gentleman's Pact Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I love this song. I think it's about being tired of life. It's certainly not a new theme for bright eyes, but he makes it original. | |
| Conor Oberst – Cape Canaveral Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| wow, i love this song. i got a recording of the mystic valley band(i guess thats what they're going by? They were unnamed when they played the show.)'s second show. at first i kind of shrugged it off, but then i accidentally listened to the whole concert, and i haven't been able to stop. I'm REALLY impressed by 99% of all this new stuff. Really, I am. It's just phenomenal how he writes all this! He should short stories, I bet they'd own. | |

| Sufjan Stevens – To Be Alone with You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think that the first verse isnt saying, he lost his faith, it's saying he had a major Spiritual experience(like if youve ever gone too a great Church Camp, and heard an awesomely Spiriual messagethat made you break down, or something...) and he's saying he'd give anything to do that again, to be alone with him again. Have a grand eveening. GODBLESS -Nicholas |

| Sufjan Stevens – The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us! Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think when he talks of wasps and storms in the end of the song, that those are metaphors. But in the beginning, i think that they are real wasps. I also, dont think that hes talking of his brother, because he says, "there on HIS shoulder, my best friend..." the HIS being his friend... but, i do think Sufjan is writing all this from a Lady's point of view. After all, he is a Folk Writer, and there songs dont neccesarilly have to be from the point of view of the gender of the singer... anyways, beautiful beautiful song. have a great day GODBLESS -Nicholas |
