Clutch – The Elephant Riders Lyrics 16 years ago
this song mostly references antebellum america in the early 19th century. this was a period of economic expansion for the US. lets explicate a few lines:

"I'll keep pulling on the towpath.
You keep floating on the river."

here he is talking about the barges pulled down canals by horses on a towpath that goes beside the canal. it was a VERY common (and might i say effective and cheap) method of transporting large amounts of supplies before steamboats were widespread.

"Clickity clack clack, clickity clack clack,
Baltimore and Ohio,"

this refers to the Baltimore to Ohio railroad built just before the civil war. often called the B&O.

yes, hardtack is a breadlike food for soldiers, but this song does not seem to be about soldiers at all.
it was common for travelers to use this as well.

these facts seems to lead me to believe this song is about a traveling merchant who is witnessing the changes going on during the 1820s and 30s. he seems to be distraught about the fact that railroads are being built and might put him out of a job.

elephants referring to republicans doesnt really make any sense because there wasn't a republican party during this time. there actually wasnt really much of a party system at all until much later. i think that by elephants he means the large train engines.

clutch fucking rules.

Clutch – (Notes from the Trial of) La Curandera Lyrics 17 years ago
a "la curandera" is a female shaman or healer. this song is about (like andyburton said) a witch trial - thus the line "We eagerly await your response and your best defense."

they execute the witch, but i dont think there is any revenge taken.

Clutch – The Regulator Lyrics 17 years ago
yeah, neil did admit to ripping this song off. he takes old blues songs and modernizes them pretty often.

this song is obviously about a guy who was left by his wife for a wealthier man. he is planning on breaking in and killing her.

"you should have got another dog" is about how it used to be HIS dog and so the dog knows him and probably wont bark at him when he is breaking in.

the reference to the "regulator" (yes, a clock) is about how he is just waiting on the time to come when its dark enough for his to break in and kill her.

and @HolyDiver you are really misinterpreting the song, Jenn has got the idea

Clutch – When Vegans Attack Lyrics 17 years ago
alright this is probably the stupidest argument i have ever seen.

the song is about you self-righteous asshole vegan types "missneurotic" and "shyboywins" who fight for a cause that is pointless. its not about whether people should eat meat or not. and yes... (even though it has nothing to do with the song) we should eat meat... our ancestors did it - deal with it.

but meat is not the only issue addressed in the song

Clutch – Willie Nelson Lyrics 17 years ago
alright so im thinkin this guy is either a meth-head or some kinda crazy person. either way hes out of it and the cops are bustin into his house to arrest him.

i think the part that says "my disease does that for free" means he knows his addiction is killing him

the title line is supposed to be like a one liner joke. the rest of the song has a pretty serious but that line is kind of ironic.

and its not "the killer weed" its "willie nelson only smokes killer weed" theres no the in there

also its probably about the DEA or FBI instead of the IRS

Dog Fashion Disco – Castaway Lyrics 20 years ago
firstly you would think this song is actualy about someone stranded on a deserted island, but i take it more like todd (singer) thinks he is the only person thinking the way he does.... like he is seperated from the rest of the world by his religious views
