| Julian Casablancas – 11th Dimension Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"Drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all of the time" How ironic. I wouldn't doubt Julian's intentions here either...very clever |
|
| Mercy Arms – Kept Low Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| one of my all time favourites | |
| Mercy Arms – Kilby Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It mightn't have anything to do with the meaning of the song but the song title 'Kilby' reminds me straight away of Steve Kilbey of The Church. Being an Australian indie band I'm sure they've drawn some influence from bands like The Church so it could seem fitting. The lyrics really don't seem to represent anything like that though...just a thought. | |
| Sonic Youth – Sugar Kane Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| While it could seem fitting, I think drugs could be stretching it. A recent Sonic Youth biography written by David Browne indicates that despite the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll antics that are often associated with their scene and genre of music, Sonic Youth never succumbed to stereotypes or the sinister habits of those around them (namely, Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love to name a couple). Browne makes a witty reference to the one (recorded) time they attempted to do cocaine, which ended up being sneezed onto the floor. | |
| The Presets – Together Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
such a lovely face such an ugly city baby i will wait for you if we could be together forever Story of my year. Boy meets girl. Boy likes girl. Turns out boy lives hundreds of miles away. He can't move out of his ugly city for a while but girl is willing to wait |
|
| The Presets – Anywhere Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is my take on the lyrics... Yeah now you're getting warmer, Feel like you're getting closer, Yeah now you're getting so hot, Feel like you're burning When I first listened to this I felt like I was being worked up for something. While it might hold sexual connotations metaphorically speaking, I don't think that's what it's about. That first verse in particular sort of ends in disappointment. She enjoys having a bit of fun with the guy but when it starts getting a little too hot to handle, she backs off. Surprise surprise, You're on your own It's in your eyes The love's you've known And the one's you loved, You lost completely She's a repeat offender. She's a bit of a heartbreaker. She's let him go, like all the other guys and he saw it coming but refused to believe he'd be just the same as all the other guys. So let yourself down tonight, Anywhere I'll take you out tonight, Anywhere He still can't get away from her although she hurt him. |

| Cut Copy – Out There On The Ice Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
uhhh would i thinking too literally if i said i thought this song is about ice addiction? "yes, no, maybe is all i need to hear from you if things go crazy, she's lost herself and lost to you" - the indecisive, scattered brain of an addict "she's breaking down slowly, colliding as she holds your hand" - succumbing to the high "there's a guy you know, who'll be there for you" - dealer "if that's what it takes, then don't let it tear us apart even if it breaks your heart" - she needs to go to rehab, boy still loves girl rah rah rah just pointing out what seems kind of obvious to me and while i'm here...i love cut copy |
|
| The Getaway Plan – Where The City Meets The Sea Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i think it's about a guy trying to bring a woman from his past back into his life and she's apprehensive about getting back with him considering their history together. | |
| Gyroscope – Snakeskin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| gyroscope were the best part of the gold coast big day out...and there were some pretty fucking awesome bands there. these guys well exceeded expectations. WOW just amazing. and this song is just so amazing | |
| Digitalism – Pogo Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| how is it possible that i am the first to comment this amazing song? amazing at the brisbane parklife in australia. i think the song is just about a life change. missing the way things used to be and making the effort to get things back to the way they were. | |
| Ben Lee – Catch My Disease Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| When this song was getting an absolute overkill on every commercial radio station, there was actually a bit of a conjunctivitis epidemic going around. Open your eyes and catch my disease. thought it was quite ironic. Although when I first heard this song i staright away made the connection with STD's. This song brought down Ben Lee's standard for me. His other stuff is so much better. | |

| The Rapture – Whoo Alright Yeah Uh Huh Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song is great it makes me wanna dance. the lyrics are great, and it's just really colourful i love it. the meaning is obvious. looks like they were inspired by a roomful of boring drones who think they are too good to dance and have a wild time | |
| Hilltop Hoods – What A Great Night Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Jäger bombs...as in Jägermeister.....not Yager. anyway great song, story of my life | |
| Kings of Leon – Molly's Chambers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i agree. she's got your, your pistol...pretty much saying she's got you by the dick as in your brain tells you 'no, she's bad news', but your dick says 'go for it, she's hot!' basically she's a real tease. | |
| Lupe Fiasco – Kick Push Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i love it when he says "there's no skating here" at the end of each verse. he says it with such disappointment and defeat and it really makes you feel for the guy, who wants to do nothing but skate | |
| The Kooks – Sofa Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
well i reckon it sounds like two guys are after the one girl and they're ready to fight for her. he's trying to get "under her dress" and bag her for himself before the other guy can get to her. And he tried to take your soul But didn't realise you keep it in a different hole (now it's the other guy's turn at trying to get her) So here he comes, a man with a A loaded gun (ready to fight) or one fella is trying to steal the other's girl and he is trying to fight him |
|
| Matthew Sweet – Evangeline Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i think he wants this girl but she is a committed christian and lives the celibate life until marriage... Try her on She fits like a glove Too bad she only thinks about The lord above (he can have a taste but can't go all the way...he can 'try her on'. The rest of this verse is self-explanatory) Evangeline Evangeline I think I love you But Evangeline Evangeline I want you (he can't tell if he really loves her enough to marry her or if he just wants to sleep with her) Won't you take a drink Little darlin' The cup is full (trying to intoxicate her...it's the easy way out) Just tell me how you want it We won't be seen You can tell your father It was all a dream (the consequences would be tremendous if her father found out because of their strong beliefs) That's how I interpreted anyway. Although it just sounds like a cute little love song I think the lyrics show that he is actually quite self-centred and not on a quest for love but for sex. Especially because it would be something to brag about becasue she is so hard to get. |

| The Breeders – Cannonball Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Has anyone seen Ladder 49, that firefighting movie with John Travolta & Jaoquin Pheonix in it? Yeah Cannonball is playing in the background when they're in the bar. Great song | |
| The Kooks – Ooh La Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| ive known these guys for a little while and i was like wow they're awesome and then i was watching the OC this week and they played this song at the end. if these guys get overplayed like youth group did i'll get majorly cut. | |

| Jimmy Eat World – Sweetness Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i think this song is a bit deeper than some of these interpretations. "String from your tether unwinds" is metaphorically talking about how things fell apart between a couple. "Up and outward to bind", again, metaphorically tells the story of how, because of this, this person is free - moving up and out. This is reinforced by "I was spinning free". "I was running away" indicates he's happy now without her. "sweet and simple" - his life's easier without her. "What a dizzy dance" is all the confusion and frustration he's feeling because in the end, he still loves her but doesn't want to go back to her for his own good. maybe the use of past tense says he got back with her and regrets it. "the sweetness will not be concerned with me", hmm now i'm stumped | |

| Unwritten Law – Oz Factor Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| well from what i've heard, unwritten law have taken a bit of a liking to australia...cowriting songs with phil from grinspoon etc etc. 2 great bands cant wait till unwritten law come to Aust. in october woohoo | |
| Supergrass – She's So Loose Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| great song...their best. hmm so it seems a bit graphic. just seems sexual to me, pointing out the obvious | |
| Unwritten Law – She Says Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i definitely agree with the alcohol/drugs bit because that's definitely the first impression i got. i still think its about his girlfriend though. the whole "mother" thing was only really in one line & it sounds to me like she's told him to give up whatever this addiction is & he lets her know he's tried. | |
| The White Stripes – Now Mary Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i love it how jack sings... 'What a season to be beautiful without a reason' it's really nice |
|
| Foo Fighters – Best Of You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ok wow what a song. this song gets better every time i listen to it and it's had the same effect on a number of people. i wonder why because i didnt like it all that much when i first heard it although im such a big fooeys fan. | |
| Foo Fighters – Everlong Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i think this is the most amazing love song. it has the ability to send shivers up my spine and bring tears to my eyes. it isn't lovey dovey and Dave kind of incorporates a bit of aggression into it which is so awesome. it reminds me of that first night you spend with your partner after being separated for a long period of time ;) | |
| Foo Fighters – Aurora Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I have not yet come by a dud Foo Fighters song. Aurora and Everlong would have to be my favourites, they are just so beautiful. Dave Grohl is so talented. | |
| Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Who's seen the video clip? I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the TRUE meaning of the song (Billie Joe's father dying) but shows the personal effects of war, because the public are more likely to relate "September" to 9/11 rather than Billie's dad. It really shows Green Day's whopping budget. | |
| Green Day – All by Myself Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i wish green day still sung about masterbation and stuff. yeah american idiot is great but love their childish ways. | |
| The White Stripes – This Protector Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I Definitely think this is the best track on the album. I think West Virginia is relevant to the song it's more likely that "within ya" was used to rhyme with "West Virginia"...think about it. I am watching the Mothman Prophecies right now conveniently, and it made me think of this song so I think it has some sort of relation, not to the movie but to the whole phenomena. "You thought you heard a sound there's no one else around looking at the door it's coming through the floor" Obviously some sort of supernatural being... "300 people living out in west virginia have no idea of all these thoughts that lie within you" Yes, seems to relate...300 being the amount of sightings?? And the Mothman reading thoughts, as represented in the movie. Anyway, just my opinion and it just seems to fit. |

| Grinspoon – Just ace Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i have a crush on phil. i also have a crush on chris cheney from the living end. both awesome aussie bands. | |

|

"figure like the stink fiend the badger in a fist fight stutter stunts the chumps dream the paranoia made it right...hey" doesnt sound right... and aslo i have absolutely no idea what this osng is about |
|
| Green Day – Prosthetic Head Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| Green Day – Give Me Novacaine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| yeah i always thought billie joe was st. jimmy. "st. jimmy's my name. and don't wear it out" | |
| The Living End – Who's Gonna Save Us? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i'm doing a year 11 english assignment about australian identity and chose this as one of my songs. more comments on what the song is about would help althought he lyrics are quite self-explanatory. | |
| The Shins – Caring Is Creepy Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| never betray the way you've always known it is...wow. the first few times i heard this song i got goosebumps. now that i can see some meaning behind it, it's given me a whole new perspective on the song. now i get goosebumps EVERY time i hear it | |
