I got the impression it was about depression, feeling like you're stuck in a hole and waiting and hoping that it won't always feel like that. |

| Frightened Rabbit – Skip the Youth Lyrics

I think this song is about how in youth, everything seems so dramatic and emotional and exhausting. The roller coaster of it all is making him feel old and worn out. He just wants the peace of old age where most of life's big questions and hurdles have been dealt with already. |

Fairly self-explanatory lyrics, and a great song. I wonder if this is a reference to the generally cynical, sometimes verging on depressing tone of their previous albums? They seem to have a lot more hope on Winter of Mixed Drinks. |

This song is absolutely amazing, especially the last bridge and the lead into the last chorus. I think it's just about someone who is breaking away from the boredom of the everyday in order to survive. |

I first listened to Ara Batur while I was sleep deprived and incredibly stressed. Around the 8 minute mark I actually just burst into tears.
This song has got to be the most beautiful piece of music ever created. |

| The Shins – A Comet Appears Lyrics
|
i think the songs is full of constant references to eternal judgement of some sort. he has spent his whole life trying to be the ubermensh, working along the lines of "man is something which ought to be overcome", but by overcoming his humanity he has destroyed all the goodness in him, and is basically waiting for judgement and wandering how he can escape what he knows is coming: "A list of things I could lay the blame on, might give me a way out."
This is just a thought, but maybe the title "a comet appears" is in reference to the old belief that a comet in the night sky is a soul leaving purgatory. |

i actually like this version better than any other. yes, even the beatles original, which i do love, but which loses to rufus' version due to its excessive trippiness. sitars annoy me. rufus puts so much emotion into the words, its beautiful. but kudos to lennon for writing it :) |

i find this song really comforting, especially the line "nothings gonna change my world," like all the bad stuff can't get rid of the good stuff. love and light and laughter and the goodness at the core of humanity still exist in the face of all the darkness and fear. |

| Damien Rice – The Blower's Daughter Pt. 2 Lyrics

to me this song seems like he is with someone other than the blower's daughter, and he is using her physically and all but he is still lonely and in love with the other girl.
very bitter song, depressing but beautiful. |

| Mika – Any Other World Lyrics

|
to me this song is about someone who loses someone they love, and they have to try and get on with their life, because even though their life is falling apart the world isnt going to stop for them, hence...
"In any other world
You could tell the difference
And let it all unfurl
Into broken remnants"
btw, love the violin part. its such a beautiful and heart-breaking song. |

this song is so beautiful and sad. |

the reason i came on here was to see whether you all reckoned its was a love song or a religious song. i think, in the end, it can be both, because while some may see a religious theme, then in that perspective its ultimately about the love for christ. and if you dont see/want to see the religious stuff, then its about the love for another.
so no matter who you think the song is directed at, it is still a love song, and that what actually matters.
and loos Tongue, shutup. peoiple can interperet whatever they want. dont be such an ass. |

| Youth Group – Forever Young Lyrics

i live in sydney and i watch the oc- let me just say that i dont actually listen to the radio so if it werent for the oc i never would have heard this great song.
i know heaps of people are getting pissed about how 'the oc stole it' or whatever, but the song belongs to the fans, and it doesnt matter if you are a fan after hearing it on the radio or a fan after hearing it on the oc- point is, it is a song, it got publicity, people like it- dont try and rob people of something they love just because you judge them as being 'unworthy' because of a tv show they watch.
maybe you are different types of fans, or whatever- you can distinguish yourself from them, but dont bash them for liking something- you cant exactly tell yourself what to like and what not to like. and you can be a fan of a song without having listened to the whole album.
so sorry to all you pretentious people who think that if a song is popular, it immediately becomes not as good- it is still the same song, whether it is liked by just you or by the whole of california. and if people want to attribute the song to ryan and marissa, let them; as far as i can see, it shouldnt have anything to do with you. |

i think its supposed to be a provocative song about how Jesus Of Suburbia is waiting for changes to happen, and for someone to come along and change it all, and then he kinda realises that he is that person, and he is the one who hasthe position to change all the screwed up stuff. He is waiting to become St. Jimmy, and then realises he already is. |
