Switchfoot – On Fire Lyrics 20 years ago
This is in response to swimmer9807:

You'd probably be surprised to know that most people do know they are a christian band. I found that out after I bought the cd and it didn't change it for me one bit. But you see that's one of the good things about music and ART is that it can be interpreted how ever the listener/viewer wants. Just because most people know that they are a christian band doesn't mean that they can't apply it to something else in their life. I personally agree with music*ismyboyfriend because I can relate this song to a time which I am going thru right now.

Don't get me wrong Swimmer, I'm not saying this song isn't about God I'm just saying that because somebody doesn't come up with the same meaning as you do doesn't mean they don't know what the song is talking about.

"The ability to forgive and forget is only surpassed by the skill of tolerance"

learn to deal with the fact that not everyone sees it the same way you do. And it doesn't mean they're wrong.

I think that the lyric:

"I want to see miracles, see the world change
Wrestled the angel, for more than a name
For more than a feeling
For more than a cause"

is talking about the idea that we do things with good intentions and we figure we don't need god for some of the smaller things, but in the end it's more then that. I'm still trying to figure out what this song means to me. But I do agree with clairpatra. that's probably the meaning behind it.

Breaking Benjamin – Rain Lyrics 21 years ago
This is my first post so bare with me.

I see this song being about someone who is somewhere they don't want to be. The line "take a photograph, It'll be the last." Makes me think that they possibly want to kill themselves.

With the line, "Not a dollar or a crowd could ever keep me here." is saying this person feels they have no reason to stay were they are. Not their Job or the Friends, it all just means nothing. He can't rely on anything or anyone to help him with his problems. Hence the second line and chorus. Then he finds someone that could help him.

"Is it you I want,
Or just the notion of a heart to wrap around,
so I can find my way around

Safe to say from here,
You're getting closer now,
We are never sad
cause we are not allowed to be."

This is just saying that he could possibly be happy with this person. He questions it though because this person seems to good to be true.

In the end it doesn't matter if they're to good to be true, all that matters is that this person makes him happy. And they make the sun come out.

Maybe this is just a reflection of my own situation right now but this song sure helps me.
