This song is totally about drug addiction, specifically heroin addiction. As it seems like Dan Auerbach writes about this a lot in his songs. The song is talking about people he knows trying to score free drugs off him. "screams at the door" A desperate junkie looking to score. People may seem like friends, but a junkie is never a real friend and is only into you because you can hook them up. He also mentions being strung out and being addicted to the substance itself, and though he still is friends with these people, its because he is stuck on this horrible substance. Junkies are only friends with junkies. |

The line that totally convinced me of this was "Pulled me up, laid me over the beam he clung to" Meanings he pulled him up to the Cross he was on. The cross carried Jesus along with our sins for which he died for.. Good song. | |
