Most people would enjoy this song more knowing that Mummers are somewhat like wandering groups of entertainers. One description I've read is that they run around merrymaking in disquise during festivals. They also put on plays and things, especially around Christmastime in Ireland and Britain. |

Remember the adage, "If you don't have anything good to say..."
Anyway, this is a good song, and a simple song. Of course the song is more about Lukey, not his boat. From what I can tell Luckey lives out of his boat and lives with what he has. There's an air of whimsy about the song, but you can tell that the others laugh at how imprefectly Luckey gets by. |
