This is my favorite song on the new album. It makes me feel sad, but has the most beautiful imagery. I love that line 'Life just kind of empties out." oh man, that makes me feel so hopeless in a good way. I love Aimee Mann, she is my favorite. |

I think the 'Raggedy Andy' reference has to do with the idea that those Rag dolls are dolls that can be pretty used and beaten by their owners. My sister had a raggedy anne and I had a raggedy andy when we were little and they both are pretty torn up now. What Rufus is saying is that you can't use life up, you can't abuse yourself during life, like with the addictions that are mentioned above. Again, he's coating his abuse of substances and other addictions with little kid, innocence references. I think this song is pretty amazing.
But now I have a question, I get the idea of the leaning towner of Pisa, but what does he mean when he says he's 'a little bit Irish, a little bit Heiress"? |
