I have the studio version off of fleetwood mac album. I love this song. Its so haunting and beautiful.
Personally, like said before, its about being alone, not sure if it refers to family, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend, or whoever else. But it just seems like this person is alone, no one to turn to or talk to. Just an awesome song. |

Anyways, its about someone who is about to die. And they just want to make sure that they get everything done and said that was really important to them or others they cared about. Very touching, and would be great to know, and kinda suck to know you were going to go in 24 hours from now, and you had that 24 hours to make any amends, or just live out that 24 hours like there was no tomorrow...(no pun intended on that line)... |

One of their better ones...aboout drugs. More specifically psychedelic drugs aka LSD. Timothy Leary was actually psychologist, and he campaigned for the legal use of LSD drugs. Thats a lesson for you kids, read, I remembered this from reading a book long ago. Anyways thye are kind of using his name as a metophor for the drug. |

I think its a great song. One of their better ones. I think that its not just about youth energy...it is, but it can also be taken as just live for the day, and if you dont,"you will never make it".
I do agree that some of their not the best songs got more radio playtime because of their pop-ness. But calling them sellouts is kinda retarded. Like I thought splinter was amazing in everyway. "Cant get my head around you", "The Noose", "Race Against Myself", and really "Lighting Rod". All great riffs with catchy lyrics. |

I think its about a guy wanting to make things work with this girl, but she has this attitude problem that he cant seem to please her with anything at all. And now after going through all of this, he sees that its never going to work, and he just has to give up and leave. And finally break away from this relationship. |

Wow, at first I thought it was about drugs. I mean you can relate just about about every line to drugs. The first time I heard this, what stuck out to me was...
"Clip the wings that get you high, just leave them where they lie
And tell yourself, 'You'll be the death of me'"
...I think that means get rid of what is getting you high, and just leave them behind and never look back. And then the 2nd line in that is where he is trying to tell himself that, and tries to convince himself that this was the right choice.

I really think its about an obsession also. These lines really brought me to that conclusion.

I really think its a huge joke. If you let someone listen to it for the first time and they hear german, they are going to think Nazi. And as the song keeps going, it hits an apex where it sounds like a leader speaking to his country, and they all start cheering. And this pushes the listener that is actually only hearing even further. I am german, and know german, and when I heard this song I started laughing. |
