okay first off i love this song and its catchy as hell and when i first heard it all i could think about.. was HOLD UP, i saw him on cribs two weeks ago! and his house DID have a huge bathroom, for example the tub was huge, and in the shower itself(which was about the size of WHOLE bathroom).. there were four shower heads speard out so if yuo were with someone(s) everyone would get water( you wouldnt have to wait) .. and he literlly had like 5 cars, and at least 10 huge dirt bikes... and nickelback IS regular guest at the playboy mansion..(from an article in mcleans about the mansion) .. anyways my points is.. hes probably just making fun of himself, and celebrites like him.. anyways. ps. he really does like the showers eh? "we gotta make love just one more time in the shower" from feelin' way too damn good |

I think this song is about a guy who lost his girl because he cheated on her. Hes deeply inlove and obsessed with her, but shes had enough, hence "this is the last straw" i think his reference to the president, is the new boy in his ex's life.. as the president is known as someone important and powerful to someone, just as the other person in a relationship can be.. "Why a country needs a god and a woman needs a man" i think this line, is talking about why she needs someone else.. that she got over him so quickly and now has someone new.. her president if you will... "To think the happy thoughts that leave the phone lines clear" shes not keeping in contact after he left him, and if she is.. theyre not talking nicely to each other .. and finally "I won't wait for you forever While you run around like JFK. We watched that poor girl waste the best years of her life And I'll be damned if I'm going out, I will not go out that way." this part is referring to how JFK cheated on his wife with marilyne monroe, and how the wife stayed there, yet wasted the "best years of her life".. shes not going to live that way.. bascally, she is telling him straightup, she wont stick around much longer.. this is the last straw |

so to me, this song is talking about a boy and girl who are very good friends, but one of them.. the boy, wants more than that.. he loves her so much, and he tried to make it more than friends, and to go out with her, but she turned him down becuase she dosnt belive in herself and him enough that things will work out.. she can kiss him on the neck and say their just friends, but inside its killing him becuase he wants more and he cares about her so much.. he "I took a shot and didn't even come close At trust and love and hope" as in, he tried to become more with her, and she turned him down and they didnt even come close.. now things are awkard for the two of them, and wants to blame everyone but him for the mess hes created.. and finally "I'm hopelessly hopeful, that you're just hopeless enough" he is so hopefull that one day she will turn around and realise that she loves him.. but shes hopeless at heart |

i adore this song, its so beautiful.. i think its about ending a bad relationship that was hurting both of them, and she dosnt necessarly want to end it. but he needs to for the both of them, and hes begging her not to "rescue" him and pick him up again.. to bascally come back to him as they break up im thinking that where he says "Too long Roads are leading away from this I'm following myself, just this once" it could be Two long roads... as in two seperate directions that they are leaving in both moving on, and he needs to follow himself and do whats best for him, and he cant let anyone come and try to save and do it for him.. to rescue him... those are my mixed thoughts, when put together its beautiful |

when i first heard this song, all i could think was that it was my song because its how i felt about being not true to myself... but as i started to read everyones comments and talked about it, ive realised that soooo many people feel this way. lost, lonely, and as if no ones knows the real them... lol anyways my fav. line isss "Buried deep as you can dig inside yourself and hidden in the public eye such a stellar monument to loneliness" because to me, it shows someone who is always in the public eye.
