King Crimson – Dinosaur Lyrics | 17 years ago |
He's kind of looking back regretfully at when he was young, bright, but foolish - "idiot savant". |
Swans – Children of God Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Cynothoglys's idea makes sense. I suppose I could see the lyrics taking on a slightly sarcastic slant. I love the song nonetheless. |
Swans – My Buried Child Lyrics | 18 years ago |
One of my favorite tracks off of The Great Annihilator. I'm not sure as to what the lyrics mean, but they make me think of abortion or a miscarriage. |
Filter – Hey Man, Nice Shot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It *was* a pretty nice shot. |
Death – Flattening Of Emotions Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Hell of a song. It's pretty self-explanatory, though; it seems as if the song is about denial, or 'flattening of emotions'. |
Godspeed You! Black Emperor – The Dead Flag Blues Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Another theory: I open up my wallet and it's full of blood This adds to my theory about the end of governments and countries. One holds money in their wallets, and money always clearly designates what country it is from. Like I said about the dead flags - perhaps the money has 'died' as well because of the end of government. |
Neurosis – Takeahnase Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's probably an American Indian phrase, by the sounds of it. (Listen carefully to the intro.) |
Godspeed You! Black Emperor – The Dead Flag Blues Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think moreseo than the end of the world, this is about the end of government \"the flags were all dead at the top of their poles\" suggests perhaps borders being removed and the like. The end of the world will, I think, only be the end of the world as we KNOW IT. I don\'t think we\'re important enough to have the entire planet vanish just to get rid of us. I think that\'s what this song is trying to say, in a way. And it\'ll probably end in a vicious war. Incredible song, the last two minutes at the end are really... something. Hard to describe, but absolutely wonderful |
Nine Inch Nails – All the Love in the World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think I need to really hear and understand the album as a whole before I can interpret the meaning of this... as is the case with a lot of NIN albums, each song tells a part of the story. |
Nine Inch Nails – All the Love in the World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great song, but very different in comparison to The Fragile and TDS. I loved it immediately, but i'm sure a lot of people won't take to it so quickly. |
Nine Inch Nails – Getting Smaller Lyrics | 19 years ago |
And if you ask me, so far With Teeth seems like a mix of PHM and Broken. Interesting stuff, can't wait for the album |
Nine Inch Nails – Getting Smaller Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm starting to like the direction Trent took with this album... It's wildly different, yes, but i'm not afraid of progression if it's done well. In fact if he was churning out the same stuff year after year NIN wouldn't be half as interesting. |
Nine Inch Nails – The Hand That Feeds Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I must admit, this song has definitely started to grow on me. And is usually the case with most singles, they sound a lot better when listening to the album as a whole - it's much more cohesive that way. I'm sure the musical style of this song was implemented for a reason. |
Nine Inch Nails – The Line Begins to Blur Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's a great song. Gives me hope for With Teeth. |
Gary Numan – Cars Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Heh, I think a lot of you are overthinking this. And for God's sake, it's not about drugs or sex. Jesus Christ. |
Nine Inch Nails – Happiness in Slavery Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is still one of my favourites - it's just incredible in the way that it expresses so many different ideas and concepts. And God, I can relate to this - a rare thing for me. I still wish I had never truly opened my eyes. I love that oft-used line in a lot of the songs on Broken - "this big broken machine". Very powerful - it can be applied to a lot of different things, I think. |
Nine Inch Nails – The Hand That Feeds Lyrics | 19 years ago |
FluidDelusions makes a very good point(s), i'd have to say that I agree with him/her - this isn't Trent's best, no - but it's obvious that he isn't perfect. I can think of plenty of NIN songs that aren't up to par with the rest. That and, we shouldn't judge the album by just a single song - that'd be like judging the whole of The Fragile after listening to Starfuckers, Inc or We're In This Together - both two very different songs, but on the same album. The song isn't the best, but it's still listenable, I think - if a little irritating at times. |
