Just heard demo version of song as recommended by The Lost Messiah and it is excellent too. Somehow more surreal and un-worldly..I hope anyone who likes this song can get a chance to hear Street Spirit by Radiohead and The Eternal by Joy Division....as in my humble opinion they are three songs which cross the boundary of time/space/death/poetry/mysticism...you name it....out of this world.... |

I don't wish to be too morbid but Ian seemed to be singing this from somewhere far far away...as he also seemed to do in Decades....One magazine at the time of his death had an article about the group with the title "Frozen Still On Higher Moments"...what else is there to say? |

one of the greatest melodies ever, frozen eternally in the greyness of time. Seeps into your very soul. A masterpiece. |

i found this site because i wanted to know what this song meant as it is so haunting...after reading these posts, am i any wiser? i think a little bitbut what a great song....in the first line i definetly hear the word urchins instead of ocean...and when interpaul asked about the cadaverous mob...i found this definition...Of corpselike pallor; pallid: “I saw a cadaverous face appear at a small window” (Charles Dickens). |
