oh, ya, by the way the line "you could shit upon the stage, they'll be fans" is not as philosophical as you think..its actually kurts response to the sudden rush of people comming to nirvana concerts that didn't "belong" their. he could have shit upon the stage and people would still be fans!! it sticks with the whole trend theme of the song. this song is just one huge critique of mass culture and mainstream markets |

Kafei, your posting was rather good, although not intirely correct, for example the "she's over-bored, self assured" part ios about tobi vail, the singer in bikini kill (the same person that inspired many nirvana songs, such as breed, aneurysm, etc.) but your interpretation is pretty good. ....
and i think chris.theantihero was getting at the other 400+ retards only commenting on teen spirit because it is the only song they like/know. i mean, you know this songs meaning, doesn't that bother you, and this site(and the teen spirit postings) clearly show why it should.

whoever thinks led zeppelin is a trend needs to get their heads checked, remember that they did start from humble beginings like nirvana as well. u must be thinking of their "glam" days, but then you dont remember nirvana for the whole nevermind/teen spirit trend do you?, you hypocrite!@!..by the way, these lyrics are wrong, its hard to tell exactly what kurt is mumbling, but if you look in any books these are not the lyrics, for example, this song is a direct rejection aimed at people who only liked teen spirit and such, u know the trend part, the same people that beat kurt up that were buying his music because it was the trend. theirs also a part where he says "you could shit upon the stage, they'll be fans, they'll be fans" not "...upon the stairs, you'll be friends"??? what the fuck is that, who wrote this? also note that nirvana was influenced by led zeppelin, notice the covers on the new box set, and they had similar influences like leadbelly. this song is a tribute sorta, kurt did just think it sounded like a led zeppelin song and an aerosmith song combined, hence the name. for anybody posting on nirvana, i'd recomend reading some books such as "come as you are:a biography of nirvana" or "heavier than heaven" or anything, just stop being idiots ranting on about what you dont know, thinking that you do. You are the "kids that will eat it up, if it's packaged properly". kurt is also saying in this song that "an idea is what we lack" as in the repetition of hairmetal bands that nirvana and other "grunge" bands thankfully eliminated for us. keep in mind that this album is all b-sides and songs aimed at getting rid of the fans that only liked nirvana for teen spirit |
