| The Police – One World (Not Three) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Awesome song. The lyrics are obviously about how we speak of "third world" countries that need our help. Well they're not in a different world so we should stop dividing ourselves a help eachother. | |
| The Police – Masoko Tanga Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| These lyrics were included with the original Japanese vinyl release of Outlandos D'Amour. The Japanese distributer payed an English speaker to interpret the lyrics, but they are as close to "official" as has been found. The lyrics also contained a footnote warning that the song illustrates the negative effects of drug use. | |
| The Police – Mother Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I'd say it's one of the better songs on Synchronicity. Miss Gradenko of course is the best on Synchronicity but this os a good song. | |
| The Police – Does Everyone Stare Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The intro to this song with the piano and Copeland doing vocals is actually the demo mixed in as an intro with the rest of the song. If you notice their is opera playing at the end of the intro... supposedly that was some of the music they were influenced by at the time. | |
| The Police – Reggatta De Blanc Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The names of the first three albums were "created" by miles copeland. Reggatta De Blanc ESSENTIALLY means white reggae what he actually was trying to pull together was a made-up, exotic-sounding phrase for the fact that they were blonde, and played white reggae/punk music of the "Blank Generation". | |
| The Goo Goo Dolls – Out Of Sight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Ya, this here's a real Goo song. | |
| Matthew Sweet – Sick Of Myself Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| ^ ditto, to everyone's comments | |

| Paul Westerberg – Dirt To Mud Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| ^Sorry, but Paul kicks posterior. | |

| Regatta De Blanc means white reggae. | |
| The Replacements – The Ledge Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Great Song | |
| The Replacements – All He Wants to Do Is Fish Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| ^don't we all? | |
| Matchbox Twenty – 3 A.M. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yes, this is a song that Rob wrote when his mother was fighting cancer when he was around 12 years old. He recalled her being up late at night fighting the pain. Supposedly most of the lines are actual events that took place. | |
| The Goo Goo Dolls – Better Days Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| You, know I really miss the old Goo's. I respect their new albums, "Dizzy Up The Girl" and up, but they seem to be attracting unintelligent non-musical pop-loving teenagers that think they're misunderstood. Really, I like their newer stuff it's still good... some of it is too mainstreamed, but still good. But, really, really, really good stuff is "A Boy Named Goo" and back. *Sigh*, how the excellent punk/alternative obscurity has been lost. | |
| Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Excellent post markiesparkie. The only thing worse than broadminded liberals... are narrowminded liberals that are superstars. |
|
| Paul Westerberg – Men (Man) Without Ties Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Man, what a great song. | |
| Minor Threat – Salad Days Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is an awesome song... the lyrics are pretty deep, as they are with most of Minor Threat's songs. People can't understand the lyrics though... but it's cool. | |
| Camper Van Beethoven – June Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Excellent Song | |
| The Police – Man In A Suitcase Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this song (an excellent one) is about someone who's always traveling, perhaps a business man. His home is wherever his suitcase is. (I'd invite you back to my place It's only mine because it holds my suitcase It looks home to me alright But it's a hundred miles from yesterday night) He resents being confined to his job referred to as his suitcase. Wherever his suitcase takes him, he must go along, it's as if he's trapped inside. (Must I be the man in a suitcase) He travels so much the people who knew him don't recognize him... he's just another passer-by/stranger. (Is it me, the man with the stranger's face) (Another key for my collection) He may be reffering to all the hotel rooms he's checked into. He's handed a key to yet another hotel room. (For security I race for my connection) Perhaps meaning he feels at this point his only source of security is the hotel room he checks into, that and his suitcase are the only things he can call his own. (Bird in a flying cage you'll never get to know me well) He's trapped traveling in an airplane. (The world's my oyster a hotel room's a prison cell) He's stating how small the world is, and yet, he's imprisoned even further to hotel rooms. |

| The Goo Goo Dolls – Give a Little Bit (Supertramp cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I'm suprised they decided to put this song on "Let Love In" their new album. I figured a single release and it being featured on their live album would be enough. Perhaps it was a bigger hit than they expected and they want this album to really be driven with two chart-topping singles (Better Days and Give A Little Bit). I still hate covers and I think the Supertramp original is better, but the Goos did a good job, and this one is ok with me. | |
| The Goo Goo Dolls – Stay With You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Awesome sounding song... despite being a newer song, it doesn't sound as "mainstreamed" ...in fact it sounds like it could pass on "Superstar Car Wash". | |
| The Police – De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think this song is saying how he doesn't like how people play with words. They use eloquent words to make them seem intelligent or above other people when really it could simply be a masquerade for their own ignorance that would show through. So they hide behind their big eloquent (meaningless) words and phrases. He's caught off-guard (tied up and raped) he can't even defend himself because his words would appear inferior. He knows what he's getting at... his logic and knowledge is too deep to leave his tounge, so he replys with babble (de do do do, de da da da) simply meaning he dosen't have to justify himself to them. | |
| Train – Mississippi Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think this song is predominately reffering to the Mississippi River. This is one of my all-time favorite songs. | |
| Train – Cab Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ^I agree | |
| Train – Skyscraper Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Excellent... possibly my favorite track on "For Me, It's You". | |

| The Goo Goo Dolls – Better Days Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| The Goo Goo Dolls – Better Days Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"And the one poor child who saved this world And there's ten million more who probably could If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them" I think that the verse "there's ten million more who probably could" dosen't detract from this song being about Christmas... on the contrary I think it adds to it. Christ asks all to be like him and bring peace and hope to the suffering and sin of the world. If we all pray for and aid the millions of poor and suffering children in the world they too can "save this world" by ministering in the same way we did them. The more we help others, then they help others, who help others... We can "stop this endless fight" and make everyone "loved tonight." Instead of worrying about what we want this year, and all the "empty things" and "boxes wrapped in strings", we can with "faith and trust and peace" help the world find "better days". That's the message Rzeznik is trying to get out, especially with war, hurricanes, and natural disasters that have left people homeless and feeling empty. |

| The Goo Goo Dolls – Fallin' Down Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Do you know where you wanna go? I ain't got time for you now Do you think that I'll ever be? 'Cause all I've ever wanted is so far gone And if I had my chance I'd go along Your making me fall down I'm falling down again I wish I could fall down Can you catch me darling? Do you see what you do to me? You aint have time for it now Do you think that I'll ever be? Cause all I've ever wanted is so far gone And if I had my chance I'd go along Your making me fall down I'm falling down again I wish I could fall down Can you catch me darling? Cause all I've ever wanted is so far gone And if I had my chance I'd go along Your making me fall down I'm falling down again I wish I could fall down Can you catch me darling? I'm home I'm home I'm home I'm home |

| The Goo Goo Dolls – Better Days Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| this is probably the goo goo doll's most mainstreamed song yet ...it seems that Rzeznik has matured even more in his lyrics... it's hard to believe that the same guy that was begging someone "don't beat my ass with a baseball bat"...has matured to someone who wishes "everyone was loved tonight and we somehow stopped this endless fight"...to this day i haven't heard a song by the goos that i haven't liked, whether it be punk or mainstream (which i can say about few other bands)... overall an excellent, and moving, song | |
| The Goo Goo Dolls – Gimme Shelter (Rolling Stones cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| The Guess Who – No Sugar Tonight Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| it irks me that they listed No Sugar Tonight/ New Mother Nature seperately... THEY'RE ONE SONG.... one of the coolest parts about the song is at the ending when the two parts of the song are harmonized together | |

| The Goo Goo Dolls – What A Scene Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think it's about becoming/being a celebrity (perhaps personally for Rzeznik)... and the scene of being a star just feels all wrong... 'cause all these things around you change... you like being a star, but you kinda feel guilty, you feel powerful, but you feel vulnerable and something's telling you it's wrong and something's telling you it's alright... your torn and you feel in your gut it's all wrong | |
| Men at Work – Down Under Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| rabbethan...hahah you're right there are many excellent bands that came out of australia...... but i may have to agree with those you criticized... this is an awesome song | |

| P.O.D. – Abortion Is Murder Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ok "callmemichael" the unborn baby IS breathing... if it had no oxygen it would die... hmm... how does it get the oxygen you wonder? well... from the mother's blood... it's more complex, but i don't have time to give you a theology or biology lesson... if i did, by the time i was finished... you'd hopefully no longer be pro-death(choice) and you'd hopefully no longer post stupid comments that you may think are "quirky". | |
