"I had seven faces" refers to different masks (figurative, people) that he puts on for other people - changing his personality. I really didn't understand the subway being a porno at first because I thought it was just more nonsense, but you people are shallow - it has NOTHING to do with pornography. I read in an Interpol chat board that it just means that the subway is full of tragedy and horrid things, and like a porno, you want to look away but you just can't. I didn't interpret that myself, but I agree with the person who did. Just thought I might add: I LOVE INTERPOL! (See them live, they're even better then) |

Okay, I'm not an expert or anything, but I think that everything past the intro makes sense. "It started out with a kiss How did it end up like this" -It was just a kiss and now he's fallen in love. "Now I’m falling asleep And she’s calling a cab While he’s having a smoke And she’s taking a drag Now they’re going to bed And my stomach is sick And it’s all in my head But she’s touching his—chest Now, he takes off her dress Now, let me go" -If anyone noticed, he's falling asleep WHILE the other guy's calling a cab. He's obviously dreaming a paranoid nightmare about his girlfriend with someone else. It's all in his head, see? "I just can’t look its killing me And taking control" -He's being paranoid, and it's taking control because paranoia tends to be overwhelming "Jealousy, turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis" -He's worried that his girlfriend is with someone else, so he's dreaming about her with another guy, WHILE ASLEEP (swimming through sick lullabies) "But it’s just the price I pay Destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes ‘Cause I’m Mr Brightside" -Paranoia is the (figurative) price he pays for falling in love with her. At least, that's my opinion. |

| Let it be -- mother mary is NOT a mary jane, but is Paul's mother and the virgin mary. It has a religious symbolism and a general symbolism that when things are going badly, let it be and relax and it'll all work out. I'm not saying it's true that if you don't do anything everything will work out, but that's what Paul meant. | |

| John Lennon had a meaning in a lot of their later songs, like the Let It Be album, but "I am the Walrus" was just to tell people that not all of their lyrics had to mean something, like "Yellow matter custard dripping from a dead dog’s eye". The intro obviously implies that we are all equal or something of the sort, but honestly? Paul dead? I think not. | |
