| Cannibal Corpse – Necropedophile Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think I'll chime in on this subject. Has to be said, I love death metal and I love Cannibal Corpse, I don't see how people look at the lyrics and jump to the conclusion "oh. the band sucks, no talent there" if you're making this kind of comment then you are seriously misguided. As far as talent goes, fine I will concede, Necropedophile isn't all that great, however this is earlier Cannibal Corpse material, the band weren't as proficient, but if we come up to date with CC I'd point you in the direction of a song called "Frantic Disembowelment" not pretty lyrics (aww what a shame for you fucking MTV poncers) but the music is INSANE, I can tell you as a a musician myself that some of what CC writes is straight up REALLY hard to play, but again im sure some of you, being the virtuoso musicians that you clearly must be to make such comements, will still say its easy and that death metal on the whole is easy, so let me give you some examples of bands that might just fulfill your need for technical supremacy, for a start Necrophagist and Nile, incredible speed and accuracy in playing, for non death metal technicality, Between the Buried and Me, Sikth, and a band called Psyopus (find the song "Insects") any musicians in the aforementioned bands would be hard to beat by a lot of players in their fields, not only is the drumming fast but due to Death Metal's often progressive leanings complex time signiature changes and polyrhythms come into play, the guitar and bass playing is often virtuoso level or very close to that. The vocals I can't defend as such, but thats a matter of preference, I for one was never able to stand death vocals but I grew accustomed to it after prolonged listening, and NOT all DM bands write just gore lyrics, CC do so because they feel totally without and argument that brutal music needs brutal and unforgiving lyrics, end of. It is not the be all and end all of DM, for example, Nile base their lyrics solely on Egyptian mythology and history (occasionally with a slightly Lovecraftian stance), Decapitated deal with Nihilism, insanity etc, Behemoth take a slightly more "spiritual" approach (after having originally been a black metal band). I just hope that this will make you think twice about reading some unpleasant lyrics (and yes I would say these are unpleasant, in fact, probably the worst CC has written, the vast majority of the material is nowhere near this edgy in subject matter) but it seems sometimes that people look at one set of disgusting lyrics and make blanket statements about the genre as a whole, sorry but to anyone who really knows anything about extreme music you come off as an idiot, because there are plenty of bands out there who make this music, in fact more extreme music than this without ever touching the gore-fest side of the lyrics. I hope this may have been a little enlightening for you. | |
| 50 Cent – Candy Shop Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
God, these are the most shitty fucking uninventive lyrics ever! I mean.......its like an al time low, how can these be seen remotely intelligent against other lyrics out there???? ok let's compare: I take you to the candy shop I'll let you lick the lollypop Go 'head girl, don't you stop Keep going 'til you hit the spot (woah) riiiiiiiiiiiiight, not exactly fucking genious material is it? Especially when in comparison to: I know the pieces fit 'cause I watched them fall away Mildewed and smoldering, fundamental differing Pure intention juxtaposed will set two lovers' souls in motion Disintegrating as it goes, testing our communication The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so We cannot see to reach an end, crippling our communication Point made. And I think I justified the point particularly well, in my choice of lyrics. Intelligence and making people think is what music is about, and not mindless driveling fucktard monotone about how you get women to *sighs* "lick your lollipop" |

| Tool – Lateralus Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| OK I was looking through some of the comments made on this, and one thing that strikes me is this, has no one else got pissed off with this bullshit about there being some sort of "secret" order to the songs on the album? This would seem remotely feasible, apart from the fact that the "correct (HA!)" ordre separates tracks 10, 11 and 12 (deisposition, reflection and triad respectively) I find it unlikely that this could be a corrct order as disposition reflection and triad ARE ALL ONE SONG it was originally conceved as one 20+ minute track but never had a name, at some point it just got split into three tracks on the album, this is also a reason why on the artwork on the back of the CD, these three tracks are linked by a dotted line. Phew just had to get that of my chest. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Right Where It Belongs Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Good God! WHAT a song! This is definitely the next hurt (in my opinion) I think that this song is just about sitting back and taking a look at your world, and deciding if its actually real, and whether you are all that you want to be, thats my thoughts anyhow. Another couple of comments, who else liked the way Trent mixed lines from other songs inot the new ones? and also, can ayone see an relevance to the term "bleed through" in the album? because its mentioned in two songs ("Beside You In Time" and "Every Day Is Exactly The Same") one last thing, I hope to god that this isn't released as a single, admittedly its a fucking fantastic song and it would probably introduce new people to NIN but also I get the feeling that everyone will suddenly becone NIN fans and be like "oh yeah, I've always loved NIN!" they'll probably be the same ones saying "Pretty WHAT machine?" thats how I see it anyhow. | |
| AFI – ...But Home Is Nowhere Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Awesome song, but just a couple of points, the lyrics here for the spoken word part are appalingly wrong (they are correct if you look at the back of the booklet) and also the last song isnt part of ...But Home Is Nowhere, its called This Time Imperfect, the lyrics (and title) are also in the back of the booklet. | |

| Rage Against the Machine – Maggie's Farm (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Hey maggotface, I believe the Maggie in England you are referring to is Margaret Thatcher, fucking whore, when she was the prime minister she decided it wou8ld be a good idea to close all the coal mines, putting thousands of people out of work. | |
| Jimmy Eat World – Cautioners Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Awesome song, one of the best on "Bleed..." mind you, they're all amazing, this is one that really stands out, JEW are one of the most emotional bands I know, they convey emotion in their songs beautifully, and nearly everyone can relate to what they are singing about in one way or another, and I think thats what makes them such an incredible band, I finally get to see them live in June supporting Green Day, now THAT is gonna be a night to remember, btw, does anyone have any idea as to what songs they play live frequently, it would be cool to have an idea before I see them. | |
| Jimmy Eat World – Kill Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Oh my god, I think I can honestly say that this is one of the only song I can say I've ever really been able to relate to FULLY, when i first listened to it I wasn't blown away (god knows why not!) ut when I listened to it and knew the lyrics properly, I just thought "WOW, this song EXACTLY describes my current situation" well, that is as lonmg as yuo apply the lyrics to being about a crush, but never quite having the courage to make a move, actaually recently I gained the courage to mke my felings clear to the girl in question, I got turned down, ah well, dust myself off, try again! | |

| Jimmy Eat World – Pain Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I had heard tracks by JEW before this, y'know the MTV stuff "salt, sweat, sugar", "The Middle" and "Sweetness" but when I heard this it blew me away first time! I know at least ten people who bought Futures after just hearing this song! | |

OK, This is just my opinion on thee meaning of the song, but to me, it has always sounded like its being sung from the perspective of a guy who has been with a gir for quite some time, and he wants to have sex, but she is apprehensive, also it sorta seems like he wants to do it because something is going to happen, like him goin to go away or something, OK, I'll try to justify my thoughts: "If you only just would let me, only just one time, then be happy with the consequence with whatever's gonna happen tonight" Its as if the 'narrator' is saying, "c'mon, just this once" he's trying to convince the girl. "can we take a ride, get outta this place whiole we still have time" He wants to leave their current surroundings, and go somewhere they can "do the deed" as it were, the "while we still have time" part makes me think of the time constraints, e.g. him going away etc. Thats just my idea of the song, and strangely enough, that idea came into my head as soon as I knew the lyrics and could apply them to a meaning. Amazing song though, one of the best on Futures. |
