Your words are like knives They peel my skin and pierce my soul ------------------------------------------------------------- Pretty obvious what he means here. Your body will burn tonight… Though your heart may still remain cold ------------------------------------------------------------- I think Dallas is talking about this girl in the song. Her body may burn tonight....she may have found another relationship/another guy. However, it wont fulfill her, her heart will still remain cold, it wont be love, itll be just another senseless/meaningless relationship. And I will blame myself And I will blame myself For holding on to what I hoped would keep you by my side I will blame myself ------------------------------------------------------------- He's obviously blaming himself for what broke him and this girl that he loves apart. He sees it as his fault. He also blames his continued love for her and all his memories. His memories are what he holds onto that he hoped would keep her by his side. ------------------------------------------------------------- The Sheets are stained with… Memories of your soft kiss Now this is all I have Paper and pen to remember you with ------------------------------------------------------------- Obvious meaning in the first two lines. Now all he haves is a paper and pen to remember you with. He used to have this love from this girl. He used have everything. Now he has nothing but memories and a paper and pen to express them with. |

this is one of my favourite songs of all time. I think this song is primarily about racism. (It's never too late to be early Or try and maintain Some scrap of integrity and certainty) Im guessing George is talking about justice here for both blacks and whites. Its never too late to start trying to make things more equal for all races. (Won't apologize and 1977...Was a long time time ago) I googled 'racism 1977' and came up with this. The USA reintroduced capital punishment in 1977. Since then there have been 845+ people given the death penalty for murders. It found that there were about equal numbers of blacks and whites murdered since 1977. 80% were put to death for killing whites, while only 13% were executed for killing blacks. Coincedence??? I guess hes saying it was before his time, George being born in 1982 and all, he couldnt do anything about it/he had nothing to do with it. Hes not going to apologize on behalf of the white race and why should he...he has never treated blacks in a poorly manner. (And the alamo penetrated And there is little hope For the white man so Hop on your rainbow And ride... ) No idea, if anyone can think of something, thatd be cool. |
